anyone sell at auctions?

hubby has been visiting the local auction a few times and swears we can sell 'any and all of our crappola" so just wondering who else does auctions and what experience you had with them.

I DO I DO!!

I bake pies and take them to the Monday Auction :) They do fairly well, too!

And, when I'm de-cluttering the house, I put stuff I don't want to keep/store/look at anymore in a small box, or several small boxes - and set them out with the misc. crappola that gets auctioned off outside.

I do not stay and watch, because they give us option to set a reserve price on our crap - but I don't usually do that because I want the crap gonzo!!

Go home and wait on the check to arrive on Wednesday! :D

It's a bit of a gamble, though, sometimes the less you take, the better you do. Sometimes the more you take, the less each thing sells for.

My pies average $6-$8 each. :D

Wow, that is such a good idea. I would never have thought of it.

I asked 'how much do they take' and he said the buyer pays

he bought a dog crate for Bolt for $10.....same darn thing I just paid $69 for at PetSmart
(this one is for the camper)

he ended up paying $11.50 for the crate so the seller gets all the cash

hmm....

huh? that's different than our auctions! I have to pay commission out of my sales. Whatever my stuff brings, they take a % of it.

yea it surprised me big time the seller is not penalized. the buyer takes the hit.

plus they draw lots at the beginning.....1 hr before you have to show. draw names and you GET only 15 mins to sell....then they go thru the numbers and if you have more, you number repeats and then you sell again.

Hmmm...I am interested. Maybe I will have to start visiting auctions now. I have plenty of items I need to get rid of, and a few I am in need of. :D

I got an early start on my pies for tomorrow's auction! Usually we're so dang busy I don't get started on pies till close to 6 pm on Sundays! The first two pies (blueberry) are just about ready to come out of the oven, and I have 2 more ready to go in when those come out!

We're making 4 Blueberry and 4 Blackberry today. Hoping to make maybe a couple peach, too (but one of those is for us to eat!)
