Got hanging weights. The sow is 245 pounds and the boar is 216!! Wowzers! The sow just took off growing and got bigger and bigger! She passed the boar up. So if hanging weight is 245, she must have been bumping 500 pounds live weight! SOOOOOOO glad I didn't keep her!
I'm so envious... all that great pork:drool

That's pretty big- those are average live weights for when we butcher! How old were they, do you know? Our friend butchered an older sow once and she was just... Awful. Hope yours prove yummier than that one was!
How was she awful? Tough or taste bad? This one better not taste bad.... all that soured corn and goat milk whey they got! They got lots of graze too, they tore up that pasture!

Can you send me just one pork chop? Man I love a pork chop sandwich now. I can only imagine what it would taste like from a home raised porker.

Haven't got the meat back yet, but I'll sure fry up a pack of pork chops, take a picture and tag you! But I do have packages of loin from the Red Wattle I slaughtered in June....

Baymule you make me want pigs so bad!

Just make sure that you are set up for them. I have a tendency to do everything bassackwards. I get animals, then figure out what to do with them--but NOT pigs! I posted these pigs on BYH and Simple Terrier posted pics of his pig pen, so I am posting the link so you can see his set up. When I grow up, I want a pig pen, feeder, waterer and loading chute like his!

Idk. The spot I would want to put a pig pen isn't trailer accessible.

How hard are they to halter brake?

That looks so yum! The pork chops I buy here have most of the fat trimmed off :(
