BeccaOH: Update of just STUFF

Excellent message, Becca! I bookmarked it for future reference. :)

Wish you all lived closer to the OH river, down near Little Hocking way. I will be visiting there over the weekend and really, really need a good roo....mine isn't a good flockmaster. :(

Mapquest says I'm 2 hours 20 minutes from Little Hocking, OH, or 3 hours from Hocking State Forest. Whichever you mean. If you are passing through Cambridge or Wheeling, I could definitely meet you at one of those places. Looks like you may pass through Morgantown, WV, which is also 2 hours 20 minutes from me.

I have 5 or 6 roosters I'm currently needed to rehome or butcher. One is my original flock master. He is a great guard, but he started flogging me and was rough on the girls. Though he did father some nice chicks. He is a BO and was just to used to being the only roo for so long. I have two of his sons. One is mixed with Dominque and is quite a pretty boy with unique coloring pattern and rose/pea comb. Then I have 2 young black roos. They might be an Australorp and an Orpington. You'd be welcomed to any of them. I may even part with a blue/splash LF cochin that I don't really need. He is quite docile and still young. All but Romeo the BO are this summer's hatches.

We saw our first measurable snow on Black Friday. Then Saturday and Sunday were warm enough for working outside all day long. 60 on Sunday. I cleaned out the garage and got things arranged and stored for winter. Felt good. I want to arrange my hoop house beside the fenced garden for winter turkey housing, then I'll feel set.

In the last week I sold 19 birds. Yeah! Winter animal husbandry is looking more doable. Now time to run those extension cords and set up heated waterers as the temps are dropping through the week.

Got a new egg customer. And he wants duck eggs! Seems hard to find the buyers, but once they started enjoying the duck eggs, then they seemed to be hooked. ;)

The pantry, the root cellar, and the freezer are full . . . but still my mother and I can never decide what sounds good to cook. :/

Hi Becca! Trying to catch up on everyone's journals. :frow

Ya'll really shouldn't have been allowed to post so much in the last two weeks!

I'm having NPIP testing done on my flock today, so last night I had to get real about doing a head count on all my poultry. 98 :th How did that happen? :hu If I had kept all that I recently sold, then I'd easily be over 100. Poultry sure can multiple from the 8 I had one year ago. :ep

Wow. You might have me beat!

I'm heading out to do my head counting after coffee with R this morning. :)

Sitting at my desk, trying to focus on work with an adorable kitten snoozing on my lap. He won't shut up in the critter carrier. Shh Don't tell the boss. ;)

Leaving at noon, or I wouldn't have arranged to have him brought here.

I know a sweet little boy who is going to love this guy! :love
