BeccaOH: Update of just STUFF

I have 3 breeding groups of runners: Fawn/White, Blue, and a mix with black drake over a F/W and a trout (maybe she is mixed).

Added a 10th goose egg to the incubator. Why not? What's one more needy, puppy dog gosling to raise until I can sell them?

I'm leaning towards getting black from holderreads but I don't know....right now I have a chocolate pair and a black male....dang rooster killed my black runner hen. I need to start over with fresh stock and rebuild my breeding pen.

My F/W drake is from Holderread last year. My Blues are from a great breeder here in Ohio who gets a lot of his starts from Holderread.

I also got my Saxony ducks and my Hookbill drake from Holderread.

My Holderread order went crazy. I got only females of the Saxony and only males of the runners and Hookbills. Holderread wasn't at fault. They were great to work with. When I messaged them about it, they kind of laughed along with me.

I'm having trouble getting my duck breeds divided as I'm out of space as well as having a temporarily wild Embden gander who doesn't like any hanky panky in his yard. Killed my extra Hookbill drake last week. Thankfully he was an extra and had already been banished from the Hookbill yard for beating up my best drake.

So, why when I'm crunched for space, time, and money for this poultry business do I still wish to add turkey back to my menagerie? I need to downsize. I need to downsize. I really need to downsize!

Very little luck this year with rabbit litters. Only 2 successful litters out of 5. Found 5 dead newborns this morning. Mama had built a nice nest, but for some reason they didn't survive their first 12 hours.

Oh, sorry about the buns....what is it with rabbit babies not surviving? Could it have been this cold snap?

I'm wondering what's with ALL the tragedies we're having lately. It seems like every day one of us is having something horrible happen.

Aw, that stinks about your bunnies. I wonder if it's because it got too cold last night. Alot of people seem to be having trouble this year.

My rabbit hutch in the garage. None of the waterers in there iced over last night. So I think with a good nest they should not have froze. I think they either were born dead or she neglected to feed and nurture them from the start.

If not, how has she acted in the past as far as mothering?

Well, it is actually her 4th litter. #1 she had just 3, dead like this. #2 she raised up 6 just fine. Those were last year. #3 dead at start, but I blamed the frigid January cold and poor nest. But I give up on her. I just love her chocolate coloring (Mini Rex) and wanted more like her.
