Oh, dear! I bought her geese and now have 3 pairs!
Are you planning on breeding and selling the eggs/goslings? If not, goose always makes a fine Christmas dinner. ;)

I've never eaten goose, and butchering geese hasn't been high on my list. Animals with too much personality make it hard to consider eating. But I had no problem seeing those dumb meaties I raised last summer go to the chopping block. ;)

It sure would help if I could stay home some to get work done. I've had 4 days in a row where I was running around town. Then my chores don't get done until late.

I've got sewing to do for 2 friends who want purses our of feed bags, but I don't have time to sew, or eat supper, or sleep. . .

Last night I bought some flowering perennials half off. Problem is I don't know where I'll plant them. :P

Ah, it will get better. Right?

Finally!
Here are a few pictures of my straw bale garden. I even have about 2 bales of space I can still fill.

Zucchini (down in the middle)and bush beans are up from seed, everything else was plant starts.
I used some plastic I had along the west side to try to avoid drying by the evening sun.
That's a metal fence pounder hanging out on a post there that didn't get put away. :/

Now I need to mow the rest of my unplanted garden. :(

Went through some pictures last night.
I guess I didn't show these bags/purses I've been making from emptied feed bags.

Keljonma, here are some pictures of the silly ladies during the broody madness.

Mary and Betty join the Cochin party.

Betty has a tight fit.

I've been hatching lots of chicks this year (though my success rate on eggs has been down from last year for some reason). I've had to find creative ways to house chicks. Some older ones are in a collaspable hard sided swimming pool.

I've used broodies in rabbit hutches or cages (no heat lamp necessary).

Here are some caged apartments ready for cleaning and rearranging again as they grow. Getting ready to move some older chicks outside into a hoop house.
