Big_White....Another Day In Paradise

Today I will finish up my background, of sorts, lets see. I grew up going with my father to many jobs/activities and remember working my way up the responsibility chain, as far as the jobs go. We did everything from build/repair houses and other buildings, to vehicles, fences, roadways. when it comes down to it we are jacks of all trades. :D haha, which has its perks, when it comes to business opportunities. And when i was not with dad, mom had me in the house helping her. So I know how to cook and clean, and actually enjoy doing both. Now I missed out on getting to be with my grand and great grand parents very often. Since my parents had me so late in life i was young when they passed. Too young to understand the trove of knowledge they held from which i could have learned. Still I have learned so much from my parents and plan to learn as much as i can as i go through life. :) but enough sad story time to get to the good things. My goal for the end of this year is to be as self sufficient as my great grand parents were in their life time. I know that getting there will be hard work, but it will also be fun besides i enjoy a challenge. So that will be what i use the journal for. A way to catalog my adventures. I plan to post everyday if not twice or more to keep everyone who wants to know updated. And please feel free to tell if i am doing right or wrong by the lifestyle i seek. thanks by the way for the warm welcome. I'm glad i finally found a place with like minded people as me.

I hate wet winters! They are unbelievebly cold, cause snow (which i actually like), sleet hail, and worst of all ICE!!! It has rained the last two weeks almost everyday, atleast 1" a day. Doesn't sound like much but when the ground was already soaked from previous rains it means disaster. Especially if it freezes the night before and melts that next morning. As my dad says the ground is wrotten. I weigh 305+/- and i am sinking up on normally solid ground. We live in hill country so that means unlevel ground. Which means i'm glad no one had a video camera when i went to go feed the chickens a few minutes ago. Haha, i nearly fell 5 times! Gah, anyone else havin this problem this winter?

We've had nothing but rain since mid-August. It had just gotten to the point of finally almost being dry, and we got more rain. :barnie

Its raining here now, and the temps are dropping. We let out early at the schoolhouse :D

UGH we have slop too! It has been spitting snow here and 20 windchill. It has been below freezing for the better part of the day, so I haven't gotten much outside work done. I about fell when I went to feed this morning too  Happy winter, I'm ready for APRIL!!!!!! :P

SNOW!!!!! :woot the only thing i enjoy about a wet winter. It wasnt even in the forecast, as far as i remember. And it rarely snows here in Alabama anyways :D haha, other than that i was out in it all day splittin some wood for the fire, and stacking it up. Dad was happy to see it done when he got home, and he better be it was 27 F out there with a wind chill of 22 :barnie wet winters

Snow is a favorite of mine as well, its coming down hard now and we have an inch. :D

One of my favorite things about living so far out in the boondocks is the natural creek, and springs that run along the property. After heavy rain like we have had it gets so i can hear the roar of the creek anywhere on the property. :) I love going out early in the mornings just to walk and listen, helps me get my day started. Haha, and I live on 30 acres and the creek is on the back side, so this is rare i can here it up front of the house. The blessings of country living.

Oh and did the school house get let out today barredbuff? I know here an inch would have let us out for sure, atleast when i was still in school haha :)
