Bubblingbrooks Journey - Salut!

Woohoo!!!!!!!!!!!! :weee :celebrate :th

We got a call from trooper dispatch around 2:30am that we had a moose to pick up. Dh hooked up the trailer and rounded up tools, while I got the baby ready.
25 mile drive, and we were able to use straps to get the moose on the trailer to haul home. Full grown cow. Easy 800 pounds.
Baby just now woke up (5am) and I left dh in the yard to finish moving the screen tent over the trailer, so I can feed her.

Wanna see pics?

do we wanna see pics?! What kind of question is that?

BB...OF COURSE we DO!!!

baby has had her full nights sleep, I have had 3 hours, and dh has had none. We got the call shortly after he got back from cleaning up one of his bait sites.
Dh has the quarters off, and is now ready to dump the gut. All swelled up, but its not busted, thank goodness. Damage over all is light. Guessing by the area hit, she was clipped by a semi.
The moose is big. About 6 foot at the back in height.

more to come...

Time to feed baby again, and then milk the goat. Had a 1/4 cup of full caf coffee, so I feel funny.

Wow...I'm so jealous. Just look at that free meat! Great job - my favorite pic is the 2nd one with the cow spread eagle on the table

I read the title and thought, "geez, that's one strong woman!" :D What a score!
:gig

We used ratchet straps on all limbs and the neck and slowly got her pulled on the trailer ( it tips). Had to get her almost to the middle before our combined weights on the front of the trailer could get it level again :th
Have to get a come along soon!

DH is hauling the quarters into the bathroom to cool for part of the day. Weighing as he goes. Looks like close to 400 pounds for the limbs. Liver is HUGE :celebrate

He pelvis was shattered, so the tops of the back quarters are messy, and tha back straps are a partial loss as well.
The gut stayed intact except for the accidental knife nick!

We are so thankful. DH's job ends thursday. No bears this season. Enough guide trips have been booked for July to make ends meet, with many more expected, and now the freezers will be too full. We will need to pass on some of this meat asap.

That is so awesome. I am so glad you guys will have the security of a stuffed freezer.
