I'd forgotten that when we were at our friends' wedding in Fairbanks we visited Mary Shields, the Iditarod racer. She had has make guesses as to the weight of her largest cabbage. It was only June then so it had some growing to do. That is when I learned about Alaska's giant veggies. Amazing!
No one won the contest because something (a moose?) ate the cabbages that year.

The winners at the state fair tend to be 70 pounds and up around here.
And yes, the moose LOVE gardens :lol:
And they taste pretty awesome themselves! ;)

WOW what a huge head of cabbage! First glance I thought that was a salt shaker in the corner of the photo... :th Now that's a lot of kraut!
