I agree on the SNS. I used one for a while. It can help the baby not insist on a bottle nipple and also help induce lactation.

If you want to buy a used electric pump, you can always buy a new "kit" which includes all the parts the milk will come in contact with, and should be able to function as a hand-pump as well. Full retail for a double pump kit was $35 fifteen years ago, and they shouldn't be too much more. I've bought them at closeout for $10 before, new.

Fenugreek is good, just watch for combinations. Sometimes it is mixed with other herbs to dry up secretions. Mother's Milk tea is also popular with a lot of mothers, but I've never tried it.

I would try to find something that reflects both your family and her natural heritage in the name so she feels someday that all parts of her are honored.....if you get to choose.
