I just pruned my stevia too. I dehydrated it. I added a tiny leaf to my coffee this morning and it was fantastic. It didn't have that "taste" that my bottled stevia has. I loved it!

I'll have to check out that site, thanks kcsunshine!

I looked for seeds, and asked for them, but at the nuseries I went to they don't sell seeds. they sell started plants. I picked up two from my local nursery about amonth ago, and they have tripled in size. Hopefully it is not too late for you to find some.

that ehow site tells how to make an extract that you have to keep in the frige.

I wonder how you would make an extract that can sit out on the shelf like the ones you get at the store?

I wonder if stevia has any food preservation ability like sugar... I also wonder the same about xylitol, which is a kind of sugar.

I would assume** that if yo made it with vodka, it would have a shlef life similar to vanilla or almond extract, but I can't find any recipes like that.
