Very cool idea! Those shelves have a lip on them to keep the jars from sliding off. I'd think they'd stay put pretty good in an earthquake.

This is exactly the type of storage I am trying to talk my husband into in our kitchen, our pantry is full and we have a long blank wall that I want to make is single width can storage with a sliding chalkboard over the shelves so they are out of sight.

Oh, even better! I have been wanting a chalk board in my kitchen for a while now. Awesome way to add another functionality to a chalk board!
