Okey dokey, here's the deal. Our church is having its first "Festival of Creativity" this weekend. Basically all members were invited to a big "Show and Tell" at the church! We will each get an area to display things we have created. Some will demonstrate their creativity in what we are calling "Creativity in Motion" like the yoga teacher will gather some of her students and do a short class. One young boy will play the piano with our organist who is his piano teacher. And there will be food. So I am making chevre. It is draining as we speak. I'm looking for flavoring ideas. I've only made it handful of times before so I haven't really come up with a personal favorite yet. We did just tour a goat farm a few weeks back and sampled their pumpkin chevre which we all thought was delicious. I may hunt for a recipe for that. I'd like to do several small pots with different flavorings.
I'm betting that after viewing my photo collage of the cheesemaking process, some are not going to be willing to even try it, especially when there is no pasteurization process photo!

As for my display it will include some of my needle felted items (still a beginner but I LOVE it!) I finished my goat, Donki, two nights ago. I will also have some photographs, handmade cards, a quilt I made years ago that is truly awful, but oh well... a letterbox I made, with hand carved stamp of the church, a knitted scarf and some currant jelly.

DH's display is going to be wild! He will have model railroad buildings that he designed and built from scratch. He submitted an article on one of them to Model Railroader magazine and it was published so he'll include that. He will also have hovercraft propellers he has built with his students, photos of hovercrafts being built, magazine articles about his program, pictures of the '57 Buick he restored.
DS will have a display too. His will have some of his favorite drawings, seasonal decorations he created out of Legos, and he hasn't decided what else yet.
SHould be fun. DS is home sick with a nasty cold. We'll get some done today. We set up tonight and start showing off tomorrow night. Saturday morning the public is invited for coffee and then there will be a special service Sunday morning.

Wow! That sounds like a fantastic fun time, I love to see what others create and to see it without being in a bazaar where you feel like you have to buy something is a great idea. I think most will be amazed at what others are creative and skilled at and trading that knowledge is how these crafts get carried on to the future generations :weee

Maybe it's because I am surrounded by drying chilis, but a pepper cheese is always popular around here :D

What about tarragon?

Oh that sounds like fun! You all will learn so many things about each other that you never knew or imagined perhaps. I don't think more than a dozen people at my church know I keep bees.

Here's a couple varieties that the lady at our farmer's market makes: red pepper, jalapeo, feta with tomato and basil and apple wood smoked cheese.

Tomato basil sounds gooood. I'm always a fan of garlic mixes. Rosemary & cracked pepper, roasted sweet pepper, artichoke & olive, cumin & coriander and almond & honey are some cheese flavors I've seen recently.

I knew I could count on you guys!! Thanks a bunch. I've got plenty of great ideas for tomorrow night and the future.
Yes, the Festival is strictly about showing off, but not a gallery or contest at all. Nothing for sale, simply a way of getting to know each other through our gifts and talents.

One of my favorite mixes in any soft cheese from chevre to cream or even yo-cheese is onion, garlic and cucumber with just a touch of dill.
But since I use all the onion/garlic/cucumber fresh it has to be eaten up quite quickly.(usually not a big problem!)
I just grate up fine, the garlic/onion/cucumber and sprinkle it with a bit of sea salt and let it sit for a few hours and then I put it in a piece of clean(no machine washed soap or anything) muslin and squeeze out the liquid till the grated up veggie is almost dry and then add it to the cheese with the dill and maybe a bit more salt if needed and serve with fresh pita and lamb or any kind of chips or crackers.. Family just loves it.
Oh! almost forgot a bit of fresh grind of peppercorns too!

Now I not only have cheese to show off, I don't have a food offering for the reception tomorrow night.
