we normally do not have left-over fats from cooking. we don't buy sliced bacon so we do not need to dispose of that fat any more - we don't use it in cooking (if you don't cook meat that often the fats often smell rancid - if you've never been vegetarian for long you won't notice it but once you do it's rather hard to stomach). we also don't buy cuts of beef with a lot of fat on them and ground chuck has the perfect amount of fat for my tastes so i just eat it.
as for mullen, remember the TP shortage days?
the goldfinches love it and will spread the seeds all over and it drops many of them to spread. it is common here along the edges of farm fields and ditches wherever the soil gets disturbed. thistles are also never being removed so they keep spreading.
almost nobody around here who farms cares about what they are doing to runoff water quality or the diversity of the plants and animals.
