What's the house look like? Exciting to build something new.

i just needed something easy. Could probably build cheaper, but it would take me longer than half an hour with a screwdriver.

It's standard thickness you find in these things. It's just fine for small birds.

I'll probably add a piece of 2x2 inside at the top from front to back as that will strengthen it. I did that to one I had before.

DS15 is taking over the kitchen today, and I have a day off work. DS7 is watching DH fix the tractor. Not sure what I will do. Maybe wait for inspiration? I have lots of fun projects in progress and on my list.
Spa day! Grab a book, soak your feet and relax (for 5 min, lol)

Wet, dreary day here
Same here. Torrential downpours last night, then off and on rain all day today. I was really lucky to find two non-rainy moments to let my dogs outside before and after they ate their breakfast. And a mostly not raining 1/2 hour to do my chicken chores.

Then I had another rain free half hour in which I did some badly needed weeding while the ground is soft. But I didn’t quit soon enough, and got rained on again.

Going to spend the rest of the day doing inside stuff. I have an egg with a broken yolk that I’m going to bake in something. (Reject from breakfast because I don’t like to fry eggs with broken yolks.)

@CrealCritter Do you have an automatic door for your coop? If so, what kind did you buy?

Yes we went "Hi-Tech Redneck" with a solar, programmable automatic door, including 2 remotes (12V Battery - You Supply).

My wife programed if for dust to dawn. Meaning the door closes at dusk and opens at dawn. There are several different ones to choose from on Amazon. I'm not going to recommend the one we purchased just yet, because it's only been in use for a short amount of time. it'll need to operate every day and night for a few months before I'll recommend it. But so far so good.

But we purchased one because it runs off 12V DC. So when all the fancy solar and SEALED litiiumn battery pack stops working, I can slip in a small rechargable 12 battery. It did come with an extra battery pack for a bunch of 1.5v AA batteries that you supply, plus a plug in 12 V DC transformer, so at least they thought about the long haul. Being 12 Volt DC it will also be easy to hook up to a 12 volt DC electric fence power source if needed. My only real consern is longevity of the motor and the programmable circuit board at this point.

We missed red leaf season... way too much rain and overcast. So most of the red just went to muddy brown. :(

Yellow leaves are now up... but the second those turned some already dropped.....

Blah rainy fall. 🌧 :hide
