Ok Matt,
I looked at your thread because I forgot yesterday was Valentine's and when I was in school "VD" meant something TOTALY different. :gig

Had to share.
Happy Tuesday.
It still means the same thing ;) I love VD day :D and thanks for stopping by! and for reminding me I need to change that! :D

The Hamburgs will be easy to spoil! They are such sassy little birds.

I had a little Hamburg hen years ago that wanted babies SO badly I finally gave her a Cornish Rock to raise. It was SO funny watching her mother that little pullet that was WAY bigger than she was. She was a great mother. :D
Yeah, we had one last spring. it lived for a couple months, got sick with something, and died. CJ was heartbroken, so now he's hearthealed :D

I am so glad that I'm not the only one who thought that!

Now it is STDs, but in my day it was VD.

Too funny.

:woot :woot
We got our first $2.00 yesterday for eggs! I sold a dozen to the assistant manager at my store, and another coworker wants half a dozen to try! I figured I'd sell to my coworkers for $2.00 a dozen, and to everyone else for either 2.5 or 3 :)

We got 10 eggs yesterday! They messed up, that should have been today! :lau maybe it means we'll get ten again today? :D

It's so windy here everyone is in the coop! I saw feather dresses trying to go up over fluffy heads this morning! I love "free" entertainment! However, a wind like this makes me seriously wonder if the whole hoop house/pvc house is going to be the way to go out here! I may have to weigh them down with cinder blocks!

Yesterday was feed pickup for the organic feed coop thingy :) So, I went and got the feed we ordered, and came home with five meaties :D

So, now the count is 22 adult birds, four juvies all outside, two juvies + 15 chicks + 5 ducklings all inside :D oh, and one young quail :D Plus, in March or April we get the Welsh ducklings and in April (hopefully) the replacement order from sandhill comes in! 15 chickens plus 3 ducks makes four birds right? thats how you compute the bird math isn't it? :D

:thumbsup

As for the wind, I can't even imagine how bad it must be for you guys. It is bad enough here and we are in a valley with a lot of trees and buildings. When we first built the duck pen, hubby made the roof quite aerodynamic :D Only had to fetch it from the neighbors and reattach it 3 times.

:smack :gig

We have serious wind issues at our house and we have to take a piece of rebar (sp?) and bend it into a U and stake it over the bottom 2x4 of our chicken tractor to keep it from blowing around.

We couldn't do pvc so we did 2x2s in a triangle shape covered in chicken wire and a tarp. Here's a pic....still light enough to move fairly easily by yourself but heavy enough not to totally blow away. The rebar really helped during storms. We nailed another 2x2 on the ends over the tarp to help secure it. Hubby painted it black to blend in....he's so prissy. :P

Aww thats sweet! And I appreciate the post! I think I might either do something like that, or do a pvc shaped the same, instead of the hoop, maybe. Hmm, now I need to do some serious pondering.

*wanders over and sits on a log next to Pooh and starts pondering...*

ETA: Do you have dimensions of what this is? :D I work better with numbers :D
