"Hamilton wrote in the Federalist Papers:
It was equally desirable, that the immediate election should be made by men most capable of analyzing the qualities adapted to the station, and acting under circumstances favorable to deliberation, and to a judicious combination of all the reasons and inducements which were proper to govern their choice. A small number of persons, selected by their fellow-citizens from the general mass, will be most likely to possess the information and discernment requisite to such complicated investigations."

"Hamilton and the other founders did not trust the population to make the right choice."

This is what I learned too. I grew up in the south and am now raising children in the Pacific Northwest and I am finding that history lessons differ a little bit depending on geography.

My education about our political process is rather dated. Travel distance and time does ring a bell with me.

My son-in-law told me about how the founding fathers felt so a few months ago I did a little bit of research that seemed to verify what he told me. Then last night I looked it up again.

My oldest daughter has a little bit of background in international politics and I have a little in international relations. She has told me quite a bit about the founding fathers. They really were elitists.

I currently work four 10 hour days with Friday off. Last night when the crew got in from the field our boss asked if we wanted to trade this coming Monday for Friday (i.e., take Monday off instead of Friday). After about 10 seconds of thought we all went for it. So now I have a five day weekend.

Today I helped a friend butcher a few chickens and made a trip to town.

Tomorrow he is going to help me cut firewood. It's kind of late but I still need firewood and the trees are from the ice storm damage last winter. The wood won't be as dry as I would like but it will be dry enough. I will just have to be aware of possible creosote build up.

Sunday is church and day of rest. Potluck Sunday too so tomorrow I have to fix something for the potluck.

Monday, haven't figured it out yet.

Tuesday I take the truck to the shop to get the deer encounter repair started.

Five day weekend and it feels like it is already over. Somewhere along the line I need to do laundry. Two chickens are soaking in salt water so they will need to go to the freezer, maybe they will go to the potluck instead.

And right now my youngest daughter is in labor with her first child, our third grandchild and my wife is in Nevada with her.

Deer encounter? No person was injured, hopefully. Were you able to salvage any of the deer meat.
I would love to work 4 tens. As I get older I realize that.......I hate work.
Is your wife going to be there long? First children are......stressful for new moms, lol.

Congratulations on the new grandbaby! Praying your daughter has an easy delivery!

Steven Andrew, 21 inches, 7 pounds 2 ounces, was born by C section at about 5:52pm Pacific Time.

The little bugger wanted to see what was going on so he decided to come sunnyside up and got stuck in the pelvis. He has a conehead as a result of being independent but everyone says he is a beautiful baby.

He is our third grandchild and second grandson.

CONGRATS! on the new baby! Glad all went well!
:weee

Post pic if you get a chance.
