I got a call from a man today who has 2 saanens that are in milk that he doesn't have time for. I might have goats by the end of the week.
Um, how do you transport goats?????
I have read everything I got my hands on, any advise from you goat folks that I may not have read???

I've transported them in the back seat of my pickup b4.

They can go in the back of a car if need be.
We put gunny sacks on them to catch berries, and you can lay down an old blanket with a tarp underneath to deal with pee.
Smaller goats fit into large dog carriers very well.

Do not attempt this alone though!
We used our really old mini van when we got our herd, and I had to run interference for DH, as they wanted to get up with him and help drive

pick up truck with a cap.. put straw in the back and make sure you lock the hatch

I have not hauled goats, but to haul sheep I made a carry cage for the truck.
I made a big pickup bed sized box with a top, but no bottom out of cattle panels. I attached the panels with quick links at the corners, so that I can collapse the whole thing flat for storage. I slide it into the pickup bed and strap it down tight with tie downs. It is best if you have a rubber mat in the pickup bed with the set up as well.

Yeah on the goats! I just used a big dog crate to transport my goats.
