Daydreaming while waiting impatiently!

I proposed turning off the electricity other than the kitchen.

:idunno Why? If it's to stop TV, etc., just unplug. I'm sure you have a reason. :D I understand the phone part but, that probably won't happen. Maybe...check once a day?
Limited time! Good luck with that :hide

My favorite part about our usual vacation place is there's no electricity so DH our sleep normalizes and gets in sync. :love DH won't relax if he has his phone. He uses it way too much!

Still chugging along with the basement cleaning and toy purging. 3 paper grocery bags full of goodwill donations - much of that is toys/games/puzzles/kid books. I'm hoping to fill another bag. I also have a wicker chair in my car to donate. I love it, it's beautiful. But we never actually sit in it and I spend more time vacuuming it than anything else. I need to get dust collectors out of my house! I've had the chair listed for sale on FB Marketplace and 4 sales have fallen through. Yep, done with that.

We started our staycation off without power! LOL! Not on purpose! We had severe thunderstorms and high winds. Widespread power lines and trees down. We just had a few small branches, but a neighbor a mile away had extensive damage to 6 buildings. We just barely missed it. Something like this reminds me why I do like our community. As soon as the storm lifted, we could he chainsaws all around, neighbors out cutting trees to clear roads. Hubby cut 3 and then we went to do check on his business in town, family and friend's properties. He helped cut another tree across the road to clear a traffic jam. I believe the estimate is still 10K without power, but we are back on! We got up at 4 a.m. to go to my hometown - 45 miles - to buy generators. I'm surprised our power was restored so quickly, but thankful we are prepared for future outages.

We went to the county fair. DS12 won a blue ribbon for his origami project. I inspected the open class African Violet and holiday cactus entries. The blue ribbon African Violet literally had ROTTING leaves in the pot! :o None of the entries had even been attempted to be groomed and all of them were potted wrong. I really need to get my stuff together and enter something. :P

I have all the excess furniture out of my basement now. I saw a homeschool curriculum thrift sale in a neighboring community and delivered a laundry basket full of homeschool books. I'm currently working on getting 2 boxes of cloth diapers sold/donated/gifted. I had the whites in the washing machine when the power went out.

Wow- ya'll started the staycation with a bang - literally! Glad the power is restored...at least now YOU get to decide if you have power, lol.

You better get busy for next year at the fair. Sounds like you could kick some butt!

Enjoy your staycation!

Congrats to your DS on his ribbon! You definitely need to enter some plants next time. Gosh, you'd think people would put pride and effort into their entries?

Sorry to hear about the power out and storms, though it sounds like things are going o.k. now?

While it sucks for the neighbor that got 6 buildings damaged, I'm glad it wasn't yours! glad that your power wasn't off very long.

I'm glad that your son entered in the fair and won a ribbon, congrats to him. We no longer have a county fair in my hometown. I am not sure if it was because of lack of interest by the kids, the loss of all the small family farms in the area, or lack of interest by the adults who plan it. Probably a good mix of all of the above.

DH is talking about going to the WI State Fair - he used to go every year when he was growing up. We went one year. I wanted to see the livestock, but he wasn't really thrilled by that. I asked if he wanted to do the rides - nah, not really into that any more. I am not sure what he wanted to do. Not sure why he wants to go so bad...
