Hey Deb,
If you still have the problem after the boys rework the brakes, check the tire. I had the same problem earlier in the winter. Drove DH nuts. (He is the best grease monkey I know) Come to find out it was a huge chunk of ice in the tire.............

It's fixed! We were on the wrong track entirely. It sounded like all the noise was coming from the left front, but it was actually coming from the right front! The bearing was shot. In fact, my son said that there were pieces missing. But it's probably good that it sounded like it was the other side. My son (who's a mechanic) said that the brake line that broke could have blown at any time, and then I would have had no brakes!

Damummis, don't think I have to worry about ice now. It was in the 40s last night, and today was over 80! But I know years ago, I had gravel get in my tire, and drove me nuts trying to find the noise. I was able to locate it w/out taking it to a mechanic, so that was good. I would have look quite foolish if I had.

SD, the nature classes are my 4H club. I'm the leader of the nature club for this area. This year, we're studying bugs. We got a late start, so we won't be able to do as much as I had hoped to do. But, we've looked at how to tell the difference between an insect, and other small critters, the parts of an insect, some differences between similar insects (ie, moths and butterflies). Next month, we'll be looking at baby bugs, and they'll learn about instars and the different types of metamorphosis. Then, for our last meeting b4 we take our summer break, we'll be looking in the lake for insect larvae. The kids always enjoy that, but we always wait until it's warm weather b4 doing that. Then next year, we'll be studying birds.

How cool you teach the nature class. Around here almost all the 4-H teachers are just the parents of the kids participating.

My daughter was in the club when she was younger, but the club wasn't that good. The kids didn't really learn anything. It was basically the same every month. Then, the old leader had to quit, so I took over. After all, that's what I went to school for. And, I know the kids are learning stuff. One of them even corrected his teacher once!

I was a 4-H leader (and alumni) for many many years. We did Equine, Poultry, Gardening, and hubby did Rocketry. My kids all did the 4-H thing until they were in high school.

Our whole 4-H program in this county has just almost gone under now. Too many greedy people stealing program money (LONG story ) and no one willing to do any actual work. Especially the horse crowd.

The members went from farm type kids that worked hard and played hard to a bunch of spoiled rotten yuppy "full care" pony girls with corporate Mom's and Dad's that were used to simply writing a check to get what they wanted. No work involved! I got to where I just could not take it anymore.

My daughter was in a horse club, a goat club and the nature club. We joined the horse and the goat club because we were new to both animals, and wanted to learn as much as we could. I was disappointed in both clubs. I'd never heard of pony club until a few years later. And, other than the fact that they ride English, and we ride Western, THAT'S what I was looking for in 4H. :/

We tried to put the youngest in 4H for dogs, but he actually knew more than the teacher. Not kidding.

The older two we did girl and boy scouts with. I enjoyed it a lot. I was a leader for three years with each. I especially liked working with the kids while they were young.
