Denim Deb Hay, hay, hay. Thank the Lord!

Today was another cold, blustery day. I'm getting sick of them, but what are ya going to do? I can't control the weather, so I just have to live w/it. But, I also didn't do much at the farm. Basically, all I did was feed and collect eggs. I had my Bible study this morning, so I fed first, then went there, then went back to the farm, fed again and left. I didn't even attempt to start the mower, or clean up any poop, or any one of the other 100001 things I need to do.

Got home, made myself some cream of potato soup w/bacon, then went out in the woods and worked on wood. I've decided to try something different. I'm trying to get more than 1 load in when I get it. Then, I can spend the next several day getting it cut, split and stack. It would be much easier on me if hubby had done what he said he was going to do. We have an old riding mower here. We used to have a cart that hubby made for getting wood, but it's fallen apart. He was going to redo it so I could put my generator in it, go and cut up the wood, then collect it in the cart. Instead, I have to carry the generator to whatever section I'm working on, cut up the wood and walk it back to the truck. And, that can take a loooooong time. I spent about 3 hours in the woods today, and didn't even get 2 truck loads. But, at least I got what I did. I'll fill up the wood holder in the basement tomorrow. They're calling for rain on Saturday, so I'm not planning on getting any wood done then. I'm kind of hoping that hubby won't be home. I'll get much more done around here w/out him underfoot.
 
Yep, today got cold and too wet :( I'm ready for my Spring to come back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
We haven't had it yet and I want it! It's not normally this cold still in February. :hit
 
Funny, cuz usually it's in February that we get some of our coldest weather.... But we don't get THAT cold THAT often, anyway.
 
We were wearing shorts a few weeks ago....and now back to sweatshirts and jeans....and a stuffed up head to go with it. GO AWAY WINTER :smack
 
Well, I didn't get everything done that I wanted to do at the farm. I don't know how long I had the mower hooked up to try and jump it, but finally gave up. I was going to pull the battery and bring it home and try to jump it, but forgot. So, it's still out there.

Since I couldn't get the mower running, I didn't get the cart dumped. And, since I didn't get the cart dumped, I didn't get the field cleaned. I'll try again on Sunday to at least get it started and dumped. If I'm able to do that, then I'll get the field cleaned on Monday.

I tried to do something w/Licky's door. But, I had all the mud in front of it freeze in such a way that I couldn't get the door opened. So, I quit trying. If it's not pouring rain the whole time tomorrow, I might try it then.

I was going to clean out the hen house. As I'm pulling out of the lane, I realized I forgot all about it. Oh well, guess I'm going to have to wait a bit. I did get 5 eggs today and none of them were from my chicken that lays really big eggs, so that means I have at least 6 out of 8 hens laying! And, the one chicken I saw in the nest boxes was my older, white one! That's the first I've seen her in there in months! I don't know if she laid an egg or not. She hopped out when I opened the door and there were 2 eggs in there, but I don't know if one was from her or not. But, that's a good sign!

I did get the hay covered good since I don't really know what this next system is going to do for sure. And, I got the feed cans out of the tack shed into Honey's old stall! So, tomorrow, I'm going to do some work in the shed. I'm hoping I can get the one wall insulated and paneled! That will make me feel much better.

I got the wood holder in the basement filled again, then covered the rest of the wood. And, since I still had some time left, I started to work in the yard. The section of fence that's closest to the woods is covered w/honeysuckle, Virginia creeper, and wild rose. Last year, I tried to get the goats to eat it, but they wouldn't stay there. They kept wandering off. So, today, I started to clean that all up. I put what I was cutting off in one of those 18 gallon totes, then took it to the goats. They were quite happy. I'm hoping I can have that area all cleaned up in a couple of weeks-at least the vegetation. There's also a bunch of other stuff that I don't know what's good and what's junk. So, once I have that done, hubby's going to have to help me go thru it all. I get that area cleaned up and we can build a 2nd wood shed. I'd love to have BOTH of them filled by the end of April. Then, I won't have to worry about wood for a few months!
 
Well, today is supposed to be a miserable day, so I'll probably spend time getting my green house ready. And, we're going to bait the trap for the groundhog. From what I've read, this is the best time of year to do it since there's not a lot of food out there for them.
