Do you have a guilty pleasure?

The two indulgences that I have are: a couple of cold beers in the evening (especially in the warm summer months) and store bought kombucha.

I have not bought either in over a week and I really miss my kombucha. The one on my counter does not seem happy, but I just can not justify spending the money on commercial. Gotta get a mother!

It's books for me too. I have the most wonderful bookshop in town, which specialises in books on the environment, permaculture, nature, foraging, green building, and so on and so on. It's like heaven, and I try to buy books in there to make sure it stays in business. It also has a fabulous little tea room attached to it.

And nice stuff for the house (table linen, nice furniture), but that is strictly budgeted, very occasional and usually second hand. But I enjoy it so much it somehow feels lie a guilty pleasure!

It is -I've never seen another one like it, and I keep worrying they're going to go out of business because of the recession, so I have a cup of tea in there every now and again too! If you ever find yourself on the south coast of the UK (really likely, hey?) I thoroughly recommend it!

I love and collect books too but never pay a lot for them. Mostly scavenge the book sales (got a whole box for free once!) and yard sales, second hand shops and such.

I have books piled everywhere, boxed up in the building, tucked into shelves and cupboards......but I don't feel guilty about that little pleasure!

My dogs---we have 9 right now, and another one is coming soon. They aren't good for anything but lovin' and they are fat, old and have a ton of health problems. bark all the time..but we just seem to always have room for one more...

Bee, I am SOOO with you on the bed linens! They are my weakness as well. It took me years of being married to finally splurge on a good set of sheets, but I have never regretted it.
For one, they last forever and a day, seriuosly. I have sheets that are 15 years old that are in the same shape as the day i bought them. I finally blessed a neighbor with them because they wouldn't fit our new mattress. They don't stain! Seriously, they don't! And they don't wear. You buy them Bee because in the long run they save you tons of money. I used to spend $25 a year on new sheets cause I couldn't stand the pilling and the wearing. Now I get at least ten years out of one set. No kidding.
And books, oh I am a book fanatic too, but i have learned to use the librabry instead of buy. There are two books that I have purchased because I borrowed them so often I figured they'd be worth buying.

I guess my guilty pleasures are books, but I have cut back on buying them and go to the library instead, chocolate, and fresh fruit.

I hate buying stuff that was trucked in or flown in from God knows where, but I love my fresh fruit and so do my kids. I figure it's better than buying junk food for snacks.


Have you noticed that we all just love food and books around here???

That's because we have learned the art of simple pleasures! It takes so little to make me happy.....a good book, a comfy chair or bed, and...of course....good food!
