Dug up our sweet 'tators today....................

At first they seemed pretty normal, size wise.....

Then we found bigger ones.........

Then came some REAL freakin' big ones!!

We kept a few out for supper tomorrow evening, but
ALL of these came out of ONE 4ft x 8ft raised bed! The vines had grown over into the next beds and up the fence behind that bed!!

We buy "slips" and plant those. They look like a skinny root with a small bit of green leaves on top.

You have to make slips.

Sometime around the first week of June..........We usually don't dig them until the first HARD frost....but this year we have had two very light frosts already. Neither one got the 'tater plants though.

I actually planted a sweet potato once. Just like a regular potato. I got a few to grow. When you plant slips does each slip produce several potatoes???
