That's awesome - so glad to hear that!

A camper sounds like a good stop-gap until you get everything else lined out. Good things are happening!!

Once camper is set up then it is figuring out a chicken area. Tractor supply has meat chics. Climate here is warm enough to still get them.
That would be our first home grown food in a long while. Garden will have to wait until next year but i plan to get it dug up at least before winter. Be as ready as possible for next spring.

@elwood You have a lot on your plate, right now. BUT, if you can choose an area for a garden bed, orient the front to the S. You can then build a hay bale cold frame. It's not too late to sow some cold weather crops. You could get a head start on getting those crops started by sowing them in flats. Those seedlings will grow on for 4 weeks before it becomes necessary to get them into the ground. Doing this will give you fresh greens throughout almost the whole winter. Those greens will then start growing before spring actually shows up in KY. And, you will have that one bed already prepped to start next gardening season.

You don't even need to till that soil. Tamp down the grass, or perhaps flip that sod over. Do a lasagna style inside your "hay bale cold frame"... and get ready for some fantastic salads.

A camper gives you time to save for a building, or even start scrounging materials to build one. Was at a RV campground yesterday, saw a tent set up, the guy lives there full time. He had a tiny air conditioner barely off the ground, attached to his tent. It made us smile, he was using what he had.

We have friends who moved from Mass. with their 12 y.o. son. They lived in a tent while the barn was being built. Then, they lived in the barn with their goats, geese, chickens, and parakeet while the house was being built. My friend tells of the parakeet sleeping under the newspaper at the bottom of her cage to stay warm. It was cold enough that there was a bit of ice in the bird's water in the morning. Apparently the cold weather didn't bother her too much. She laid eggs!!! Took an awful lot of those eggs to make an omelet!

Well the camper fell through.... 3 hours into the trip the seller messages me that he sold it to some one else..... i had an agreement in place but oh well. So i purchased our 'shed' instead. It is supposed to be delivered monday or Tuesday. We spent our first night on the property last night. It was beautiful looking up at all the stars though the tent.
Did some exploration digging. We have clay soil and lots of rocks. So some prep work to do on the soil.

That stinks! But, sometimes things happen for a reason. Glad you've got the shed coming soon and you can get started on the rest of your life!

Look at it this way: You saved some money by not buying the camper. Hopefully, you will be moved into your home soon enough.
