Farmfresh City Homesteader - the sound of falling oaks.

Gotta love those dogs! We thought our GS mix was lost one night - she likes to stay outside when we come in. Me and all the kids are outside calling and calling. I went to get the flashlight to go look for her when my middle son goes to his room and finds her!! :lau She had pushed the door open and it closed behind her. She didn't make a sound when we were calling her. Now his room is the first place we look.

So this morning found me, once again, ready to pitch my old machine out of the second story window! Just before I did that I decided to go down stairs and look at the computer on Craigslist just to see what I could see.

Amazingly I found an ad for a garage sale nearby with a sewing machine offered. I drug hubby to the car and away we went. At the sale was another Singer newer than my old clunker and priced at 25 cents WITH the cabinet!

The cabinet was falling apart and I really did not want it, so I asked if I could buy just the machine. The guy did not think they came apart, but I showed him how and then I gave him a WHOLE $1.00 for my new purchase. I took it home and it works like a charm! Even has several stitch choices that my old clunker did not have. Finished the mending and everything! :D
THAT is some deal you got, FF! There was an old Sears Kenmore sewing machine maybe from the 80's without cabinet at a yard sale near us about a month ago. The woman would not take less than $50 for it and she didn't even know if it worked. So I still have my old machine. My sister has my mom's old Singer (knee power bar) and it is still working like a charm.

It must have just been in the stars for you to have a better machine. Congrats on the find!

Glad you had a good time at Renfest. We have an affair coming up in a couple of weeks called Pumpkintown. There will be lots of craft and food vendors and is usually a pretty good time.

What a great find. I know you are thrilled. Renfest sounds like fun. I missed my favorite local affair this year. There was just to much work to be done around here plus the weathe was terrible.

Good job on finding the sewing machine!!! You'll have to post pics if you do that quilt top, I would love to see that!

When my MIL died several years ago we had to go through her things. One of the "finds" was a large collection of ladies handkerchiefs. Very pretty and dainty and totally useless! Ever since I found them I though of making them into a quilt top! This may be the winter for that ... but you never can tell, I may have other "projects" that crop up instead! :P :lau
Maybe you could make small hanging quilts with the handkerchiefs for each of your children to have as momentos of their grandmother.
