Farmfresh City Homesteader - the sound of falling oaks.

don't worry about the weeds.....so sorry about your knee. I hope the doctor is able to help. :hugs

You know....about the arthritis...my grandpa SWORE that letting a bee sting you in the infected area takes away the pain and swelling. Well, after the bee sting goes down. LOL For me? Well, I just cant get to the point of LETTING a bee sting me! Of course, he had several hives...I think 20 or so in his apple orchard, was stung ALOT, and never suffered from arthritis. He lived to be 85. I hope you can get some relief from the pain...and glad to see you are online, and wasnt taken with the storms!!

There is a beek in NE Ohio who does bee sting therapy. She started the business after she found the bee stings on her hands actually helped her rheumatoid arthritis.

She catches some bees, and holds them so that they sting the client in the appropriate places to reduce arthritis. People actually PAY her to do this to them.

Now doesn't that sound like a fun job? :th Poor honeybees!

But... doesn't that kill the bees?

Yes, Abi, FF is right. The honeybee sting is barbed, so when she goes to pull away after the sting, she leaves part of her abdomen behind; the venom sac. Then she dies. That is why you shouldn't ever push on the stinger to get it out, but scrape it out with a fingernail, credit card, or hive tool.

Because a wasp, hornet or yellow jacket does not have a barbed sting, they can sting you more than once. That is why we do not love them as we love the honeybee.

FF, I wonder if the wasp sting did not help you because they do not leave their venom sac behind. Just a thought. :D

I hope the cortisone and steroids help you soon!
