Thrift stores around here all seem to price jars at $0.99-1.49 *per jar*. These are not collectors-item antique jars either, they were probably manufactured three years ago. It is NUTS. I can only conclude that there are a buncha idiots on the loose, both pricing and buying. Weirdly, they seem more priced-up in the usually-cheapest thrift stores, and less so in the usually-more-expensive-for-everything-else ones. Go figure.

I envy those of you who can find jars in thrift stores for cheap! :)

If it makes you feel any better those are the same prices that I see in my neck of the woods. At those prices it makes more sense to buy new. Then you get a set of ring and lids plus a box for storage!

I once drove by a church rummage sale and thought I spotted canning jars sitting on a table. I think I left skid marks turning into the driveway. I got four unopened boxes for $2 each. Add those to the ones I got from my mom and aunt and I am set for canning jars!
