I know, I know. We agree if it's something I alone eat, she won't fuss at the date. It's not like we are in her home state with oppressive heat ruining everythingTell your wife that dates on products are not the law - not Federal or USDA or state.... They were originally put there to help grocers manage their inventory. And that most manuf post dates about 2 years out, in general. The food, of course, last alot longer.
I'm finishing up my 2023 items and dipping into the 24 items in my deep pantry.
There is only ONE Item that is mandated to have an expiration date, and its Infant Formula.
This is why, when I work at the food bank, on those days I bring home all the "supposedly expired" food and then pass it out to neighbors and others on the weekends. Nobody turns it down nowadays.
Five hours and home. Mentally exhaustingWe've been juggling the household grocery stuff for a few months to pay for some unplanned expenses and to draw down the older items in the larder and not buy extra supplies (wife is a huge stickler on expiration dates, me, not so much). Going to be an expensive few weeks. The 6 month coffee supply is down to four weeks. Priorities!
Ugh...Five hours and home. Mentally exhausting
