Wow that’s one way to learn! You’re brave. We’ve had pigs for years and never castrated them ourselves.

The first time we moved pigs near my sheep, the LGD’s hadn’t seen the pigs up close, and they flipped out😂 they got over it though!
when we were castrating the male the dogs were trying to eat him through the wire. the noise just drives em nuts

You can buy a wormer specifically for pigs - but I just a tube of ivermectin for horses. I smear some on a piece of bread (doughnuts work better) and toss it at 'em.

If I think my pig looks about 50 lbs - I'll give it about a 100lb dose. (but that's just me - you give an amount that you're comfortable with) I'll repeat it again in about 10-14 days and I've had decent luck with that.

I already have pour on ivermectin for the cattle and it wasn't easy to find. But now I have more than I'll probably ever need. I was hoping I could use the pour on for swine also.
