FEM I wonder if turning the hose on the pig while it's stuck would help some? Water down the mud, so it won't be quite a stuck in there and able to get out by itself.

That same thought went briefly through my mind @sumi. Two reasons I didn't do it. I don't have a hose that will go out that far (even though with a little effort I could). The other reason is that I want that area to dry out. Not sure my wanting it to dry will have any bearing on it though because there is more rain in our forecast for tomorrow night. If I get a chance I'll put a panel across the opening and just keep all the critters on my side until further notice. That'll give that pasture a chance to grow a little too. Horses tend to stay on that side - mainly because they are smarter than the pigs and don't want to get stuck in the mud, lol. If it EVER dries out I've got plans to fix that spot. I've got some fabric underlay that we used when we put the drive into the pasture that I'll put down and have some gravel delivered to go there. That should 'fix' it. :fl

I will use the forecasted rain to my advantage though. I'm going to take the tiller and scrape the ground in one more area and toss out some grass seed that I bought. Then I'm going to cross my fingers and dance a little jig in hopes that it'll "take." Might be too late in the year - but I'm going to try it anyway.

Stoopid chickens got into one of the areas in the buck pen area that I planted. I had put in a panic garden last weekend before we were supposed to have some soaking rains. Rain didn't happen, and I didn't really do a great job on getting that garden in - but it's one of those "shrug your shoulders and hope for the best" gardens. The stuff that is most important to me is up in the front garden so I can pamper them.

IF the silkie eggs are going to hatch then it's time. We hit 21 days today. Two of them looked pretty good the last time I candled...the rest not so much. I've got some more quail eggs in the incubator too and they should be a bit behind the chicken eggs.

Lucy is still holding out. Today is day 148 and she's not ready yet. Udder is definitely fuller but not enough...ligs are lower, but not enough. I got a kidding pen ready for her last night. I raked out the grody stuff and put fresh shavings down. All it needs is water and a mama who is ready to deliver!

I have a packet of grass seeds here that I'm going to sow soon for a lawn. According to the packet from now is a good time to sow the seeds. Grass is pretty tough stuff, so it should do o.k. for you.

Dang! That pig is definitely stuck. LOL First one I've seen get into such a fix.

EGGS -- well, hope some of yours hatch. I set a hen a week ago tomorrow with 10 eggs. Today, she has about 20 :ep She's letting others sit & lay, then she scoops them under. Ain't gonna work!! So, my bad, didn't mark original ones. :th At any rate, a big old BO gal went broody, ONE egg. I'm gonna fill her up tonight! THEN, will have to grab chicks as they hatch and try to swap them out. Ought to be a fun week at the end of the month! :caf I should know better by now :old

So -- pigs won't load? would you if it meant the butcher? :hide

Weather here is windy but finally warm. Makes me feel badly that I don't have plants in the ground, :idunno

DEFINITELY! I've never had trouble getting the pigs in the trailer - they'll follow feed anywhere! And, I'd take a couple of them tomorrow IF: If the dogs/pigs/goats (?) hadn't eaten the lights off the trailer. I have to buy a new light kit and install it....then I have to get the trailer inspected it so I can get a tag for it in order to pull it legally. Now - I've pulled it plenty of times with an expired tag and would do it again. But, I need it to have lights...

It sure IS Friday the 13th.....:he:th:(

Got up extra early this morning so I could be extra prompt - had a really early meeting this morning. Went out, milked, fed Conan and the crew. Got my shower, hair washed, makeup....all that stuff. Grabbed my cup of coffee and my jug o' water and headed out to the truck. Click, click instead of zoom, zoom.... :( My stupid (don't tell it I said that) truck would NOT start. Radio worked, lights worked, horn worked - but zoom, zoom didn't work at all.

Had to get DH into hurry up mode so he could get me to work in time for my meeting. Spilled my big jug o' water in his car. Oops! And, I was 5 minutes late...but the meeting had been cancelled!! YaY - all that rushing for nothing. UGH!

Settle into my office to get ready for my 11:00 meeting - again with the VP of the college and a few co-workers. At 10:30 my phone rings and it's the security company. "Your alarm is going off!" ARGH! I don't even have a vehicle to go home and see what's going on at my house! My co-worker insists that I borrow her car so I tore out of here and headed home. I had called my son to see if he could come check out my truck so we get to the house at about the same time. Son is stalking around in the back yard - pistol at the ready, lol. My gun is in my stoopid non-starting truck. All is well with the house - just hadn't latched the back door in my haste to get outta there this morning and our ferocious winds today had blown it open. Gracie is ok with it because she's lazing around in the breezeway, lol.

Son and I check the truck out and the stooped thing starts, lol! But, just barely.... He does his battery/voltage checky thing and determines that it is indeed the battery. It's the original battery and the truck is a 2013 so I'm not too pi$$ed about it - just dang inconvenient. So, I tear back outta there in my co-workers car and get to my next meeting 5 minutes late...geeze. I am nothing if I'm not punctual. It kills me to be late - but I was. Oh well....

I get off early today - at 3:45 - but I can't get a ride home until 4:00 and that ticks me off too! That's 15 minutes I could put to use feeding goats, and putting out more grass seed. Oh well - I'm not going to get too ticked off about it. Don't want to anger the Friday the 13th spirits any more than necessary!
