How many bred does do you have? You're gonna be busy!
 
I am so happy to say that the shot is helping despite being in a world of hurt last night at the injection site. That was a little tough. He told me I should see results in 24 - 48 hours but after about 8 hours I was beginning to feel a difference. I still can't believe that the Podiatrist only wanted to do surgery and wouldn't even consider anything else. GRRRRRR! I've spent 3 months fighting this issue. I wanted a cortisone shot the first day I went to the podiatrist and she said nope - not indicated, not a good idea, blah...blah...blah.

My breeding "plans" for the goats has pretty much been a joke this year. I only intended to breed about 10 does and I don't have any idea how many are really bred. I had a major buck escape a couple months ago and 4 bucks were running with all the does for a day. I know some of my does were bred that day - but I had no idea who was bred or who they were bred to. I'm beginning to get an idea by watching the does that either are or are NOT cycling. But, I did a re-breed this morning to a doe that I thought was already bred. She was hanging out at the fence and teasing the boys so I brought her in and turned the Kinder buck out with her. He was on it in a half-second, lol. I looked out the window a minute ago and she's done...fighting to get away from him now (after standing for him 20 minutes ago)! Fickle girl!

I saw another of my gals come to the fence while the activity was going on - so may put her in with a buck too. So, I probably have about 10 does bred - give or take a dozen or so, lol. My plans this year are to pull at least all the buck kids and try to sell them as bottle babies - if not - they will be wethered and harvested for the freezer. I'll be selling several of the mature does also - hopefully with their babies - as milkers.

No snow for us, lol. Woke up to 62 degrees with a lot of moisture in the air. A little bit foggy and a little bit drizzly, but I'm not gonna complain!

Geesh your breeding plan and mine are about the same. I seem to have 8 bred. Some are getting close judging from belly and udder. :idunno I'd say kids in no more than a month for 2 or 3....then more to come whenever they decide to. :caf

I just got a lot of fresh veggies from the "it's close dated" gal who contracts with a restaurant wholesaler to remove their damaged goods. :weee Most is just that, close date, or slightly damaged product &/or box & restaurant won't take it. Last week I got 50# sack of onions, 50# potatoes, 25# of sugar (bag ripped a tiny when moving it), oranges, 6 cases of tomatoes , couple hams, yesterday a case of eggplant (couple were bruised, others not) 4 cases zucchini, 3 cases romain lettuce, 1 case iceburg heads, 20# chopped tomatoes, fresh garlic, leeks, etc. All of it is kept in coolers until picked up, she calls me and I drive 12 miles to her house & meet her. If a restaurant uses it, it's eventually there there for pick up. Those hams were ea 17# boneless, smoked, fully cooked (cold & vac packed) and wow, delish....1/6 sell by date. My livestock & I eat well & pretty free. There was much more than I listed, like couple cases expensive cheeses. It is like the grocery "dead meat case" only better -- free- never know what will be on the pallet. Yes, they do have meats and she's saving the next rack of steaks for ME...she already has 8 in freezer. Loin racks of beef!!!

I will be making eggpl parm, sauces, freezing, etc., today. Will have some extra wine to drink with it tomorrow :p

WOW - I am impressed with your haul! It's great to have friends like that. Definitely use all you can and the rest can be livestock goodies. Hams should freeze well. We love eggplant around here. You could even slice the leeks and garlic and freeze it in olive oil - or vacuum bags. That's absolutely awesome. :weee
 
I wanted a sandwich for lunch - but I didn't have any bread...:(

So, I baked some. In my other life, when I was a stay at home mom, I baked bread a couple times a week. I'm pleased to announce that even after 20 years I remember how!

And CRAP -- just got a call from DH - he's had another bleed in his eye. The right eye that he's had laser surgery on TWICE to prevent the bleeds from happening again! Crap! Crap!! Crap!!!
 
Ahhhhh! Babies! So cute. Your goats look terrified of them. My goats met a baby pig once without a fence between them... My wether figured out how to jump the fence to get away from it! Not a fan of pigs. They're within eyesight now and they ignore each other but there are 2 layers of fence protection! Lol!

Lovely bread! Is DH OK?
 
I didn't notice that the goats looked that way, lol. But, I'm sure they were hiding in the barn because of the drizzle we had all day instead of being afraid of the pigs. They've already encountered them a couple times and they either ignore them or butt at them to get them from underfoot.

The bread is sooo good! I think I'll go eat a loaf of it just out of pure frustration.

DH says this is the worst bleeder he's ever had and he really can't see much more than 'shapes' out of his right eye. He called his eye doc and of course he's out of town for the holidays. We will see his partner in the morning and my guess is that he'll have an injection or two in his eyeball to help settle the blood and we'll be back for more laser surgery in a couple weeks. Sigh....
