Oh My Goodness - I'm so excited!!!!! It's almost football season, lol. My Texans play their first pre-season game today! There have been some good additions to the roster and I'm looking forward to seeing what they can bring to the team. Go Texans!!

In other news - lost an old doe this week. She's been gently fading for awhile so it wasn't unexpected. What was unexpected is that my daily milker somehow came in from the pasture with a brand new hernia on her belly. WTHeck? She didn't have it at morning milking and by late afternoon - there it was! I'm kind of shocked. I've seen hernias in newborns but never dealt with one on a 3-year-old doe. This has to be the result of an injury of some type, but I have no idea what or how it might have happened. Honestly, it doesn't bode well for her future. I don't think it's advised to breed a doe with an umbilical hernia for fear of it strangulating and a surgical intervention is not in her future. I guess we'll leave this one to Mother Nature and see how it plays out. If it becomes a bigger problem, she won't be allowed to suffer.

We skipped a couple of workouts this week because of DH's back pain. Got back to it yesterday and will continue on today.

Picked up feed a couple days ago and still don't have it all unloaded. Need to remedy that this morning.

Next on the to-do list is to tidy up the storm shed justincase. It's that time of year...

Gotta get busy.

re: hernia, possibly from playing around or being butted?
Who knows? If I had horned goats I'd blame it on that. OH wait - I do have horned goats, but they're in a separate pen. It could have come from horseplay....I guess I should call it goat play ... but it takes a LOT of force to tear through a muscle like that. I can actually feel the tear in the muscle (under the skin) but I can't get the bulge to go back inside. I think tonight I will pen her up without feed to see if I can get her gut somewhat empty and then hope to get it pushed back. Not holding out much hope that it will be a successful endeavor but maybe worth a try.

Well, it's been a week. Not an exceptional one - not a bad one either until Thursday. DH has been doing so well. But, he fell and all of his 200+ lbs landed on his right knee. It's downright agonizing for him but he wouldn't go anywhere to get it looked at. So, I told him he'd better suck it up because I don't want to hear any more whining about it, lol. Oh - that hasn't worked at all, lol. We've been alternating ice and heat along with Motrin.

Another Texans pre-season game on the agenda today. Hope for a better outcome than last week. Not stressing over it because it is just pre-season. They need to work out the kinks now and come out swinging when the real season starts.

Supposed to get some rain as a result of a little tropical wave. We're not getting a direct hit, but some showers predicted. We could use a little moisture, but I can do without an overwhelming downfall.

Not much else going on. We're keeping up with a workout of some kind most days. DH's knee is limiting what he can do - but chair yoga has turned into the solution for that. It's amazing that you can actually get a workout (of sorts) sitting on your behind.
