Got lots to do today - glad it won't be hot outside while I'm doing 'em.
Aaaand - what did I do outside today. Nothing, nada, zilch! It's been crazy windy all day. Forty plus gusts with high sustained winds made it a no fun day to be outside. Not a good day to try to do anything except dodge the falling tree limbs. Any branches that were compromised just gave up. I have a bit of cleanup to do.

Brooder is ready for its upcoming new inhabitants. Sixteen little ones will hopefully be here tomorrow. Got confirmation that they were shipped today. I bought them from a hatchery in Texas so hopefully they won't be on the road too long.

Tomorrow should be a better day to be outside. Starting out in the mid 40's (brrrr) but heading to a high of 70ish. No rain in the forecast until Saturday. I'm ok with that!

Had strong winds with our rain yesterday & today. More tomorrow. Don't need it. Soil is saturated.

We should be good today - winds in the 10-15mph range instead of the craziness from yesterday.

Hoping for a call from the post office this morning. Need to get my chicks in a nice warm brooder!

Crazy busy couple of days. I got my chicks Thursday and they're all strong and healthy. Got my hatching eggs the next day. Population explosion - chicken math at its best - eeek!! Got all the adult chickens, with the exception of one roo, penned. Hopefully I can get some eggs now.

Set a trot line out at the pond finally. Checked it yesterday morning and had a catfish on it. Turned around to untie the line so I could bring the fish in and when I turned back around and lifted the line out of the water - this is what I found:

YIKES!!!! Finished pulling the line out of the water and only when he was completely exposed did he let go and head back in the pond.

Little while later I got a text from my hay guy and said he could load me up if I needed some more hay. Yes! So, I hooked up the trailer and headed to the hay field. Got three more bales. Small issue...the bales I got a few weeks ago were HUGE bales and I really buggered up my already failing hay moving cradle. It's basically unusable and not even sure it can be repaired. The rust cancer has gotten to it in a bad way... I've always wanted one of the spikes that bolt on to the FEL but always wondered if my tractor had enough umph to lift it. Now I know - I moved those three bales yesterday by strapping them up to the FEL and carrying them that way. So, I'll be in the hunt for a hay spike now.

Today will be University of Texas football and tomorrow the Texans. Lotsa things to do in between. Got the pigs moved out of the garden spot. They did a pretty darn good job of cleaning it up so maybe I can still get something planted. I'll try to get some cardboard down in the walkways that they cleared for me.

Game time!

what kind of snake is that one? :)

when i used to work at the family business we had a long (about 10-12ft) solid steel pronger for moving rolls of carpetting with the forklift. that was fun to do. :) my cousin managed to almost put it through the double walls of the warehouse back in the corner...

Pretty sure the poacher was a banded water snake. I'm not very happy with him, but as long as he goes after the invader catfish and not my bass - I'll tolerate him.

Yikes - it would be easy to poke that spear into places it shouldn't go - it would require a good bit of caution!
