Well, if you want some sympathy, I can't give it to you. Sitting in Fort McDowel RV park, in AZ, where its getting high clouds and will hit a miserable 72 today. Rain coming in on Saturday, but we're heading west again, and may miss it.
I'm a tiny bit jealous! Hope you miss the rain and have an enjoyable time!

Busy day trying to get ready for this cold crap that's coming. I was quite ok having a mild winter - didn't need this mess at all!

Filled up all the empty gas cans this morning I now have over 50 gallons of gasoline in case I need to feed the generator. Hope I don't need a drop of it. Unloaded that and headed to the feed store. Got 700 lbs of feed unloaded and put away. Had to shore up a chicken pen. Ungrateful little beasts think it's ok to fly right out of there. Nope! No escapees allowed.

Spent the rest of the day chasing my tail. Too many things! Tomorrow will be more of the same. Thankfully, temps will be in the 60's with only a 30% chance of rain. It'll give me time to finish up the most pressing things. Might even have a half day Saturday before it starts getting really crappy.

Another one of those days! Got a lot done though. I was outside from 7a to 6p...give or take a few minutes for hydration and nourishment. Important stuff, lol. Still have a few things to do tomorrow. Also going to get all the laundry done, change the bedsheets and take a last minute shower! Don't wanna be gross if we don't' get a good shower for a couple days. We've got plenty of moist wipes to keep us fresh and clean if need be.

I'll definitely bake those brownies tomorrow too. Diet be damned! Probably pick up a couple bottles of wine too...can't believe I don't have any in the house. Not going into town so hope the corner Dollar Store has some. Might be less than "fine" wine, but sometimes you just gotta take what you get, lol.

YaY!!! We had a round of rain, thunder, and lightening this morning. It stopped for a while and now is back with a vengeance. We're under a flood advisory. That'll make for some wonderful ice skating when I go out to feed for the next few days! WHY????????

i just checked out your forecast, not too bad for ice that i see. 0.01 twice on top of a lot of existing rain might mean not much actually sticks. but what do i know? :) hope it won't be that bad down there.

we're on the other side of this mess and the forecast only has us down for 1/2 inch of snow chance tomorrow afternoon. that's it for us in our current forecast, but of course cold. wait five minutes and this can change...

I'm far enough south that hopefully we won't get the freezing rain and ice on the roads and power lines - but they keep saying "maybe." I've got a bunch of standing water from the FIVE INCHES of rain we got. So, ice skating for me might actually happen, lol. I hope not - I'm not as agile as I used to be, lol!

ARGH! Had a water problem for a few hours last night/this morning. My pipes were fine - no freezing. I prepped pretty good for that. The pipes for the pump are wrapped in heat tape and I left water dripping in the house as I've done many other times. However, when I woke up around 3:30a I had extremely low water pressure. What else to do in the middle of the night when faced with that problem but to panic! I have water stored, but immediately worried about the prospect of losing access to more - I started filling containers. Luckily, I recently ordered several 5 gallon and 2 gallon buckets. They are all full now. It took a while to fill them with the dwindling water pressure. Finally, it dwindled down to the point that I had nothing upstairs and barely any downstairs so I shut it all down. Turned off the breaker to the pump and the hot water heater. Went outside and turned off the main valve coming from the well and went inside to worry. I feared for the pump because I never heard it come on when I was outside fiddling with it.

I love my son! He's my 'phone a friend' for things like this. I waited until well after daybreak and sent him a message. He's working from home today. I told him about my problems and he agreed that I shouldn't have any frozen pipes. I told him that the tank sounded empty when I tapped it. He asked if I heard the pump running and I told him no. Then he asked me if I had heat on the pressure switch. Huh? I totally forgot about the pressure switch - argh! I grabbed a heat lamp, hung it over the switch and about 5 minutes later I had water! Woo Hoo! Did I mention that I love my son?

I also called him yesterday to help me figure out which breaker went to the hot water heater - just in case I had a need to shut it off. I did. Years ago the breaker box had a nice set of labels for the breakers. Fast forward nearly 40 years and you can't read any of 'em. I had a little tool thingy here that he talked me through using. You put it up against a wire and it'll tell you if it's a live wire or not. It was the coolest thing ever! I was glad that I had learned that yesterday because I needed that info at 3:30 this morning when I shut down the HW heater too. So, in a mere 36 hours I added electrician and water well repair person to my resume, lol!

All is well but we've got another night of it tonight - and then another round for the upcoming weekend. Boo!
