Help me remember...cartoon

A number of years ago, I remember seeing several episodes on Sat. morning, of a cartoon I am certain was called Dragon.
It was not Dragon Tales.
It was set in medieval times I think, and there is a tomboy princess and her dragon.
She has a friend, who was the son of someone that worked at the palace.
Any ideas?

No TV here, but we do enjoy carefully selected shows and movies on Netflix, plus we have a home stash.
I wanted to see if that series could be purchased for personal use for DD in a few years.

I'm glad that was it! I've never really watched it, but my kids did occasionally because it was on Qubo, and I approved of their shows in general.

I always enjoyed watching "The Backyardigans" with my niece and nephew (and the day care kiddos). It's all about imagination and playtime, and I love the stories they tell. The characters are cute, and the show kept the kids well entertained. There's also a lot of music, and singing, and each episode "winds down" with the characters going home for snack or whatever, so it works for winding down into naptime, etc. The episodes can be found cheaply I think on DVD.

I always liked Little Bear and Franklin. They were good for entertainment, gentle and not madly fast-paced, with mostly sweet characters and always good values.

Never was a fan of Sesame Street type shows. They may teach a lot (and the videos are somestimes ok as opposed to the tv show) but something about encouraging such bounce-off-the-wall lack of attention to anything for more than 30 seconds doesn't set well with me. Loved the original Captain Kangaroo though, as a kid.

DS loves Jane and the Dragon but we don't watch it much. If he stumbles across it I'll usually sit and watch it with him.
He was a big fan of Little Einsteins and learned quite a bit about music watching it.

My favorite show was always Reading Rainbow...I guess I was always a book worm even as a child. TV for children that encourages reading seems really out of place nowadays.

That was my favorite too! I loved Reading Rainbow... and I loved reading from the time I was tiny, still do

I am a diehard Mister Rogers fan; and a station that we get shows (strangely) a single episode every Friday afternoon, so my kids have become fans too Hm, I should see if there is any DVD availability, that'd be a good Christmas present for my younger son.

Of current-production tv cartoons, I don't let the kids watch anything on a channel that has commercials, nor anything with serious merchandising tie-ins. Arthur is good, IMO; and Word World if you want educational. Most other cartoons give me hives (notably Caillou and Thomas the Tank Engine, which I am not impressed by AT ALL in all sorts of ways)

OTOH I was a big Kimba the White Lion fan when I was my kids' age, and seeing it recently after 40+ years away, oh my goodness, what WERE my parents thinking... it is hugely stupidly violent and has very unpleasant class/race overtones and absolutely no redeeming qualities whatsoever.

Although, on the OTHER other hand, I survived and turned out reasonably ok regardless
