Yup same here. Lots of trees and chainsaw ready to go. After a storm is the best time to go out and look for free firewood :P We live on a dead end too and only have one way in and out. Usually the road get flooded and we get stuck for a couple days. Good luck to you!

Once we're off our street which is at the top of a hill, we can go two different ways. One floods regularly, the other doesn't usually. So we're hopeful we can get out one way or another. DH will be looking for firewood for sure!

I'm not in the path (central NC) but my thoughts and prayers are with all of you!! Be careful and keep safe. I can't imagine how scary something like that must be.

Thanks! My wishes are the same for everyone else in the path or even close!
For the third day in a row I've found a small light brown egg in the nest box. I first thought that a molting hen may have started to lay again, just small, but now I'm thinking one or both of my new Delawares might be laying! Their combs are much redder than the Dominiques of the same age.

Gutters are cleaned out. Loose items from around the yard are being stashed in the shed. Getting caught up on laundry now. Will do a grocery store run later. My mom was just there and said it's already nuts. Ugh. I don't need much. We'll cook from the freezer if we lose power. Need to pick up food for the animals just in case. We're a little low on chicken food and dog food. Can't have that! Water garden and DS's pool can be used to flush toilets. We'll need drinking water though. DH checked all the flashlights and lanterns for batteries. We're good there. Now we wait. It may miss us altogether but have to be ready anyway.

I'll be praying and thinking of you all too...looks like it's going to be a wild ride.

The news is covering almost nothing else! It's been quite a few years since we've had a hurricane make a direct hit up here so everyone's really freaked out. I'm especially concerned for friends who are supposed to fly home from Disney Sunday night. Well, I doubt they will be and they'll have to make alternate plans. Not something I'd want to be worried about with two small boys. She is worried because they aren't there to get their house and yard ready.

Makes you glad to be SS when an emergency of this kind pops up, doesn't it. Haul in that feed and hang on. We will be praying for you.

Stay safe!!!

I'm already stocked up for a blizzard, minus two items I'll get Sunday. Then I can ignore it. *laughs*

Yeah, it's times like this that I wish I was a lot more SS. Like having a pantry full of canned stuff I canned myself... :hide
