I am. I really need to try to be patient and wait until summer. It will be easier to get used to the added responsibilities if I'm home. With work so nutty I don't know if adding more work to my mornings is a good idea or not.

Picked up my six new chicks from SwampYankee (BYC) today. She ordered and put my tiny order in with hers. They're 5 days old. I got two pullets each of Buff Orpingtons, Easter Eggers and Buttercups. They're active and look very healthy.
We're being stalked by a large red tailed hawk. Two weeks ago he almost got one of my red stars so the birds have been locked up. It's still hanging around watching all the time. Very scary.
Work is very busy but the pieces are falling into place finally. If we had an extra day in a week we might get organized and caught up. Frustrating today to be in an inservice all day when we could have been at our own school doing just that. Oh well..... that's the way it is.

The goats are on hold. We are getting a puppy next month!! He's 2 weeks old today. We met him and his littermates and parents on Saturday. With work being so crazy and the puppy coming I don't think this is the right time for goats. I'm okay with waiting. The truth is I really want the goats to milk and that would be much more than I can handle right now. I won't rule it out for the summer but it may be a while longer. There's a lot of other stuff going on to that make me hesitate. So that's where things stand with me right now. :)

Too bad that you have to wait Hen. :/ It probably is the right decision however.

Maybe you could find someone near you that already has goats and would like an apprentice to help out with a few milkings in return for some fresh milk. That way you could get a little experience and maybe some milk to boot! ;)

I just found out today I will be able to get some fresh goat's milk from a friend at work! Yippee! :ya

Sounds like a good idea! We do have a couple of goat farms around that sell goat's milk and soap, etc. Plus I trade eggs for goat's milk and cheese with my vet! I'm okay with it and I know it's the right decision for now all things considered. I'm so happy about getting the puppy anyway! :D

We are getting one of the three males from the litter. It could be the little guy on the right or the one on the left that is only partly showing.
