Have fun shopping, but eeewwww! I really hope you have ringworm or its just an extra bit of excema. Lyme's disease stinks!

The sweaty hairs that curl around my ears and tickle the inside are what gets me. And sweat on the tip of my nose

Retail therapy is the best!! Not something I have had in a while. I do Goodwill therapy now. It's works just as well. Kinda like a treasure hunt.

I wish I had kids who milked goats in my area. My dh has crossed the line and wants to help me build a goat pen and barn. Not sure I want to make the financial investment.

What bothers me most is when the sweat rolls down my face and my glasses fall off every time I look down and then the wind blows just a bit and those tiny hairs that seem to be forever around my hair, no matter HOW I tie it up, blow and stick to my sweaty face UNDER my glasses!



Sometimes I find myself in the garden wiping and rubbing and swatting at my face like a looney!

Oh yeah! I get it!! I get the hairs in the corners of my eyes.... and then they itch.
So we've been and come back with no calls about a cancellation.... glad I didn't sit around. I got new flip flops which is saying a lot because I am not a big flip flop person. They're Crocs and very comfy. DS got some too. I got two tee shirts and a straw hat and a small backpack for Cub Scout camp. And new hiking boots which I'm very excited about. Weird, I know. It was nice and breezy down at the shore. It's hot and humid here. It was so annoying last night being woken up by one heck of a thunderstorm only to remember that the temps were going up not down. didn't sleep well after that.
Came home to find the Golden in his crate with a big oozing sore on the side of his face. Hmmmm, wonder if we've got the same thing somehow? I'm not oozing (aren't you glad to know....) but who knows? He goes to the vet on Friday but I may have to move it up now. No rest, I tell ya!

so apparently I missed the memo that it was going to be one of those days. I should have stayed at the shore and kept shopping. Came home to find the dog with the oozing sore on his face. Called the vet. They can't get him in any sooner than the appointment we already have on Friday. Went out to get straw and chicken feed. Came home to find DS's bike lying in a patch of day lillies or should I say former day lillies and DS climbing over the goat fence in a panic. Seems Thomas the wether found his way under the barn and was happily munching some leaves growing out of a stump. Oak of course. He probably ate 4 leaves. Getting him out was fun. Complete miscommunication between me and DH. He thought I had it under control. Ha! The goat wasn't coming out for anything. I sent DS in for raisins. That didn't work. Finaly shrieked at DH who got the hint and came out. He ripped the fencing off the back under side of the barn and DS went in. Thomas came out. Now they're out there fencing in the entire underside of the barn to avoid a repeat. The electric wire goes up this weekend because it seems Mr. Thomas finally has realized that most of the green goodies come from the other side of the fence.
Oh, and the boys are hungry and want to know when dinner is.

And so it begins.....the testing of the fencing skills, and your last nerve!

To top it off I went to lock everyone in for the night and one of the duck ramp doors fell off in my hand. Nothing like replacing hinges after dark while getting bitten by mosquitoes. There was something out there in the woods on the other side of the fence too. It was creepy. The ducks didn't want to go in. I finally got them in and the door broke. I got DH who got tools. I stood guard over the ducks. It only took a few minutes to repair but those were some nervous ducks.
Oh, and I can't find their eggs again. They've got a new nest somewhere...... I don't want baby ducks!!!!!!!!!!

Whatever was out there might know about the nests already. Most of their predators are probably willing to have a meal of eggs if the birds aren't available.

Yeah, I made sure to count bills. Haven't found the nest yet. DH thinks I just saw a shadow. Whatever it was it was small, dark and moved like a cat. We've had fox before. When we had a broody chicken..... so I played it safe and stayed with them until that door was securely back on the house. All is well this morning but I'm watching their movements around the yard and constantly counting to see if one duck is not with the others. They tend to move as a pack or three separate groups. The girl who was broody the other day was one of a trio. I'll bring Kobi our lab/dobie mix with me to look around. He's not very good at it but he won't hurt if he finds her. Our old dog Bear was awesome. I could say to him, "Find the chicken" and he'd sniff around like a blood hound till he found her. He found the cat when he used to sneak out too. Miss that dog.
We're off to the garden center. Big sale on perennials and annuals.
Trouble is it's going to be too hot to plant whatever I may buy.

DH tells me I imagine things as well, but I know what eyes reflecting a flashlight beam look like! Of course after the attack on our chickens last year he started listening.

Can you lock them in until they lay their eggs in the coop?

I try to remind myself at those moments that a squirrel moving around in the woods, out of sight, when I am scared, sounds like a ginormous bear!

Wait....we did have a ginormous bear....
