I made home made butter yesterday for the very first time and now i will never EVER go back to store bought butter again. Has anyone else done the same or found something that once they have made they can never go back?

Seriously, pretty much everything. It makes me leery of trying the next homemade whatever, as I know I won't be able to go back and it will become just one more thing on my to-do list. :D

:yuckyuck Agreed!

I can't wait until my little girl starts producing the moo juice - I don't want to try making butter until it's from her.

Bread is one of the things you referred to SM - I started making it, tweaking it to my families taste, now they refuse to eat store bought!

When I have a big warm slice of sprouted whole wheat bread with home made butter and local honey, accompanied by a big ole cold glass of raw milk, well, how could Heaven be any better? (And what a food snob I am becoming!:/) Actually, Smackiesmommy, bread is not hard to make at all. Several of us here have our own favorite recipes. I think there is a thread dedicated to it.

Irish Soda bread is crazy easy!

And, yes, I am also a totally unrepentant food snob!

Making bread is a great skill to have. It's universally admired, frugal, and you get to eat the fruits of your labor. There's nothing like a slice of fresh warm bread. And it's easy enough to learn how to do it. It'll take some practice, but I think it's worth it.

I'll never go back to mac'n'cheese from a box. Once I promised the kids I'd make it but found out I didn't have a box. I asked Betty, and the results are so good that I never went back. And it's nice to know how to make a roux-based sauce.

I don't think I have ever had mac and cheese from a box. I make a very close approximation to what my mother made for all us kids in the '50's-'60's. DH doesn't eat cheese (poor deluded soul), but on occasion I will make macaroni and cheese for me, and something else for him, and we will eat from that for two days running. By then I am over my cravings, and all is good for another 6 months or so  (It's tough, but of all the things he might not like to eat/would be unable to eat I suppose cheese is pretty minor - especially as that is really the only thing. Of course, I did have to learn to cook differently when first we got together )
