I just turned off the pressure canner, 16 pint jars of Delawares. We took the hogs and Dinner, the lamb wether to slaughter this morning. Then took the trailer through the carwash and came home. I been Delewaring ever since LOL. I have two big pots of bones simmering on the stove for broth. After the canner cools down and I unpack it and get it off the stove, I need to get another pot and transfer some of the bones to it. Drinking a strong cup of coffee now, feet up and sitting in my recliner.

Not gonna get it. Our black Lab/Great Dane is sick. We noticed yesterday at 3:30 when he refused cooked chicken. He was severely dehydrated and weak. Called the vet, he was fixing to leave on a farm call so we have a 8:00 appointment. I gave Parker a sugar/salt water solution a little at a time, gave him cold clean water and he drank a little. He tried to wag his tail, but couldn't lift it. By 10:30 last night he could wag his tail, his skin was passing the pinch test and he went outside to pee. Good. Kidneys working. This morning he went out to pee and came right back in. Still weak. We are very concerned and worried about him.

Then I have a big pot of broth to can.

Yesterdays work.

Just sat down. Turned off the pressure canner, got 16 pint jars of rich yellow broth.

The vet is keeping Parker overnight, put an IV on him, took xrays, found nothing conclusive. His blood work was good, he had a light fever. There was a big "something" that shielded getting a good look at his intestines. At 111 pounds, it is likely fat. I keep telling DH to stop treating Parker like a garbage can, but he is hard to resist. LOL The vet is going to check him for intestinal blockage with barium and will call us later this evening with an update. Last year when he swallowed a hickory nut and it blocked his intestines, it showed up on xray and was easy to see. This time, who knows.
