LOL

I did read up, but I posted a question on what I can give them for treats and was told to give them game bird feed.

Well DUH! But I want to know what kitchen scraps they can safely have. ::sigh::

So who has quail? What treats can I give them?

Also, I found a very interesting article on simulating a more natural environment for quail. Anyone try this?

no idea about quail....I am not a bird or fowl fan at all.
no idea what they can have in scraps...probably everything a regular old bird might eat like peck at an apple??? haha..I don't know..LOL

I got a quad this afternoon. 3 of them are speckled and one is white. They are the Japanese quail....about the size of a robin.

I have birds because my yard is too small for a cow! LOL

Once I charge the battery for my camera I will take pics. I think birds are cute, but having had tropical birds, I know how messy they are. I love eggs though so I am willing to put up with the mess.

As to what do you do with quail...well you eat their cute little eggs...and you can eat them :D

They also sing a lot. Very pretty.

DO they get to run around during the day and get tucked in at night?

I have always loved those little eggs...I can picture them hard boiled & sliced into a salad right now...too cute!

Guess I will find out in a couple of hours wont I? LOL

The lady I got them from had been keeping them inside so until I get them acclimated, they get to be inside birds.
