I think my lettuce bolted... now what?

I think my lettuce bolted while we were gone on vacation. We got a big harvest right before vacation and upon return, my buttercrunch has shot up to about 18 inches high and is tall and skinny. I assume this means it has bolted?

So at this point, should I tear it out and replant for a fall harvest?

You could wait till after flowering and harvest the seeds first for next year, but yes--pull it up and replant

You could allow it to self-seed and you will get early lettuce soon as the conditions for germination are right.
