I am waiting on your review of the hand grinder. I have an electric mill with a hand crank option. I never tried the hand crank, maybe I should. LOL

My wife had a good idea duct tape a plastic bag around the bottom of the Sheller, It works pretty good.

I shelled about 25 lbs of the lighter colored indian corn. I never realized just how heavy corn kernels are once you get them off the cob. I think I got enough for a pan of cornbread but I need a recipe. You all have any recipes?

I still have quite a bit of shelling to do with the darker colored red ears but here's about 25 lbs of lighter colored ears in a paper grocery bag.

Edit.

Even with a plastic bag duct taped around the sheller it still makes a big mess. But it was easy to vacuum up.

I'd say I the darker colored ears yeilded about 50lbs this bag is pretty heavy.

Next comes grinding, just waiting on FedEx to deliver the grinder.

You did hold out the Purple and Pink ear for seed corn, right? :D
Your corn is so pretty, mine is all just blue.

Good luck with the grinding and corn bread!

I have one that's similar:
1 cup cornmeal
1 cup flour
1 cup milk
1/4 cup oil
1/4 cup sugar - I generally use less
4 t. baking powder
1 t. salt
1 egg

I've used this recipe for years and know it from memory, lol. If you use all the sugar it's a pretty sweet corn bread. If I'm going to use the corn bread for dressing I leave out the sugar all together.

I'll bet Google has some more rustic recipes specifically for fresh ground corn bread...might be worth a try! Whatever you do let us know how it works out!

Thank You you are alson awesome! Is the "t." A teaspoon or a table spoon? I'm thinking teaspoon.
