Interesting dairy farm-- definately not a homestead

it certainly isn't only big agri. corps killing off small farms.

just financial stress and price increases in this nasty economy like anything else and

alot of times the next generation do not want to be a farm. the land is sold for top dollar to make housing developments. Yea mom and dad wanted to farm, but the kids sure don't...cash in hand off land is very tempting.

Barb has been offered like 3 million for her 300 acres. Rex would never sell, but Barb said if anything happened to him she would sell at least 75% of the farm in a heartbeat, live great and enjoy the rest of her life easily....cause a dairy is tough work big time.

Back to Frosting and FarmerChick: yes, obviously you're taking different points of view, or else, no debate! :) That much is self-evident. As I understand it, the crux of the matter (which got lost in my long-winded post) is whether you say "the heck with it, the big guys will probably win in the end, so I'll stop fighting"--or whether you don't stop fighting unless you're beat.
