Why would the ducks come back for that bagged stuff when there are WORMS out there to eat?

That is funny about the ducks. My chickens had a ball yesterday scratching around in the run for worms. They all stood in a big circle and then one would dart to the middle grab a worm and run. 
I had fun just watching them.
We didn't have any tornado sirens but our power went out at 6am. The kids were on a 2 hour delay and then they canceled. So I stayed home as I didn't want to leave the kids home alone with no power. 15 min after the school called to cancel the power came back on
I swear my kids are going to be in school until the middle of June now.
Took my daughter to tumbling last night and had to turn around and take another route due to water flowing across one of the roads I usually take. I am not looking forward to more rain this weekend. The kids and I are going to OSU Wooster for a beekeeping seminar and I will have to drive back in that Saturday evening. yuck

Yea on the milking! Sorry you're in a big ol puddle right now but you're right - at least the ducks are having fun! Maybe your daughter wants to put on her bathing suit and join them?

our ducks have found the lower goat/hen yard which used to be the pig yard. the think they've found heaven. nothing but mud mud mud and little islands for them to stand on.

Same thing here - ducky heaven. The water is receding though so it won't last long. And that's all. Still too wet to do anything outside. Every time I walk into the goat pen I end up with a muddy goat on my back
I may start seeds today since I like to put them in dirt and let mother nature take care of them. I'm a lazy gardener. It worked out well last year except I didn't get them separated soon enough and the roots tangled. I'm using egg cartons this year since I have hundreds of them.
I don't do this often, but I'm so tired that I'm chasing my coffee with a can of Coke. Oy.

I get mobbed by the goats now. They are so funny with all their different personalities. But one of the doelings has the makings to be a serious pest and I think I will be glad when she's gone. She wants constant human attention doesn't really get the corrections I'm trying. She will do anything to climb into human arms. I think she's a little dumb. And she was that way before we disbudded her, so it's not my fault 
I did not fry her brain.
My 4 year old daughter can't go in alone now because the kids knock her down and play on her.
They are a rough bunch of little tanks.

Goats = crazy story.
I think I'm ready for the goatlings to go now. Today they got out when I opened the gate for milking time and I chased that little buckling/tank all over the place. He wanted back in, but would he go through the gate? No he would not
I need a taser just to get in the gate. I tried a water bottle and the little dorks like getting sprayed in the face I may add some vinegar. Knee in the chest = same result. They think it's fun.
Perdy is the worst, she rushes the gate to get to the milk/snack stand but she has a 'special' trick she pulls that makes me have to pull her out from under the picnic table first. I'm about to kill her. So I've been hooking her to the fence before I open the gate to make her wait but she figured out how to get the fastener undone. She pushed the door open, and it was everybody out. She goes into this wild mode when it's time for grain - like a drug addict. Once she's on the stand she's an angel, although a dry angel because the kids are draining her 24/7.
It's been fun, but I do not have the space to set up a double gate system like I would prefer. It's too late to sell them as bottle babies so I'm going to have to wait until they are weaned...read that as no way am I training them to be bottle babies this late in the game.

No tips here. I'm having a hard time with a little guy of mine. He tries very hard to get through the gate when I go in and when he does, he makes a beeline for the steps to the hayloft. He is sold so I don't want anything happening to him so I don't want him up in the hayloft. So far the other kids aren't as bad. He is on a bottle so I asked the owner to come and get him soon since he is only getting 2 bottles a day (she didn't want a bottle baby).
