my 20th wedding anniversary.

Yep, 20 wonderful years with my best friend. I know, I'm sappy, but he is the most wonderful person I have ever known.

It all started back in our senior year at high school. I asked him to our senior prom. We dated for a couple of months and then we went to different colleges. In October of that same year (1984), he called, came to see me and we have been together ever since.

I even told my best friend, during the months we were apart, that he was the man I would marry.

I am so blessed to have him at my side.

So, this kind of got me wondering - How did you and your spouse/significant other meet?

My mum and dad met at a pub lol, my dad is kind of nerdy (actually kind of really nerdy to be honest) and my mum was in art college at the time, my dad asked his friend to go over to her in the pub and get her phone number (my dad was and still is infinitely shy too), they dated, and got married, and she even followed him to chilly Canada when he was offered a job and accepted to university here.

My mum was my dad's first girlfriend :) lol

Congratulations Punkin. :clap

My dh & I met at a bar( :ep ), I was working at the local hospital & a single newly divorced mom. I would go out with the girls every other weekend(as I had ds at home everyother weekend) & one night a friend was dancing with this "cowboy" & he escorted her back to our table & she said "Don this is Pam. Pam this is Don, Don Pam likes to dance, go dance". And we did! That was in the begining of Dec 93, we were engaged in Sept of 94 & married Sept 20th 1997. So 11 yrs of marriage for us but 15 yrs together now. And he is still the sexiest man alive to me(along with George Strait of course). We are so compatible in so many ways it can be scary sometimes. We can finish each others sentances(sp?) too. We have the same goals & desires for our life & our children. We agreed right off the bat that we wanted 4 children(including ds#1 that he adopted as soon as he could). My only real complaint about him is I wish he would realize just how emotionaly strong he really is. I know the day we got married he was so nervous & I could not wait to get down the aisle to marry him, my dad & ds#1 walked me down the aisle. But my parents were the ones to give me away, as ds said he would walk me down the aisle but he would not give me away! After the soloist said her little diddy before singing "Wind beneath my wings" he wanted to kiss me right then & there & he relaxed a whole lot then. My mom read his lips & she said she wanted to scream no not yet when he asked me. I of course told him no & shook my head at him, which made her relax then too. :plbb That was one of the best days of my life & always will be.

punkin, you are my hero! Twenty years seems like such a gosh awful long time. LOL I hope I do as well as you.

Long time ago, before the internet made it to Mississippi, we had local BBS's. A woman named Judy had eight 2400 baud modems in a back room of her brothers sporting goods store. It was like an 8 line chat room. And since it would have been long distance to call from elsewhere, all the people who used it were local. So we were all friends IRL and got together to watch movies and have parties and go out and stuff.

John & I were both married to other people at the time when we first "met." So we were casual acquaintances for a couple of years before we ever started dating. It was a fun little group. Whenever someone new would find the BBS, we'd eventually lure them into a real life meeting. So whichever 6 or 8 of us were online at the time would all just drop what we were doing and go meet somewhere--often the gas station that was stone-throwing distance from my house.

We would show up in three or four cars and loiter outside the gas station for a couple of hours, then go home. LOL It was a small town. Not much else to do. ;) That's how I met John. We got to know each other while rehearsing in a garage band together.

Now ask me how I met my first husband. The one I married when I was 17. It's starts out like... I was hitchhiking down a deserted stretch of hwy 583 about 10:30 one night...

Nice post to read punkin. Always great to hear about people who are truly in love and going strong! It is just great to hear that you are happy! That is what it should be! :)

I knew Tony on sight when riding my horse and such...but then I decided to buy hay from him. When I met him the first time he told me I had a "good view" from behind when loading up the truck with hay.....welll with that kind of mushy sweet talk how could I refuse going out with him..HA HA HA

Lived together 3 years, married, and now on year 8. So total 11 years with him.

Like you...I got a great guy and smile all the time knowing I lucked out..LOL

have a wonderful nigth!!!!!!!!!!!!! Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations on your 20 years.

My hubby and I were next door neighbors n our 20's. We used to hang out together quit a bit and became great friends. Then I moved. We actually started dating because we missed being around each other. And the rest was history. We are working on our 9th year of marriage.

Congratulations! 20 years is not a long time when you are with the one you love is it...wishing you at least 20 more and many blessings :love

I met my husband when I was pregnant with my first child. I moved into an apartment next door to him and he started taking care of me from then on...when I let him that is:>) We became very good friends, but I went through a couple more terrible and abusive relationships before I realized that he was the one I could be secure with. He was my best friend back then and still is. He has taken extremely good care of me... and I truly believe that God gave him to me as the greatest gift on this earth. I can only pray that there is marriage in heaven because I don't ever want to be without him. He really is my whole life here on this earth. We are going on 18 years together, 12 of them married

Congratulations! 20 years is a miletone!

Ahem, I started out dating dh's best friend. :hide An absolutely gorgeous hunk hunka bodybuilder butt, but he had nothing upstairs. We went to a bar one night with a few of his friends, and dh and I started talking, and we talked all night. We had soo much in common, past, present, and thoughts for the future.

Needless to say, I stopped dating Mr. GQ, and started dating Mr. Wonderful. 18 years for us too--5 yrs living together, and almost 13 years married (Jan. anniversary)

Oh, and Mr GQ and he are still friends. Everything happens for a reason. ;)
