JUSTUSNAK...Summer coming to an end!?

That's sure is a biggy!! I actually got a double yolk-er in a store bought egg the other day. And it was small. Pour battery chickens. :(

I hope it's a double, just for the fun of it.

I had one like that last week. It went into the carton, but the carton wouldn't close. I let hubby have it for breakfast (meant to take a pic, but procrastinated). I remembered the pic when he yelled, "It's a double yoker!" My hens are starting to pick up production, too. I have one that is absolutely naked. Her feathers are coming back in on the butt and legs, but her back is bare. I feel sorry for her. Thought about making her a sweater. lol
 
One of my poor Buff hens molted through the coldest part of last month. I felt really sorry for her as well. She started sleeping in the nest box....but I didin't have the heart to move her. I know its not a good idea to let them sleep there..but wow, she was almost nekkid, and it was COLD! LOL
3 more months untill spring...and I am almost sure we are not dont with the worst of winter yet. Last year we got a wopper storm on Jan 7th. Lots of snow. I remember, becaus thats the day my DIL went into labor...3 months EARLY! My poor son was at the hospital alone, called me crying, he was so scared. I couldn't get there...between the snow, and loseing 2 pregnant ewes....all turned out great tho...eventually. Kaylen Ileene will be one..this week. :) She sure is a blessing!!
 
I have a granddaughter that will be one this week, too!

I was selling eggs to a doctor awhile back, and got a fart egg one day and a very very large egg the next. They were actually from my duck. I put both the eggs in her box because I thought she would find them interesting, which she did. She always wanted me to tell me which breeds layed which colors, so I knew she liked the interesting difference of having real chicken eggs that are imperfect and individual and how often do you see a fart egg?

But her roommate, apparently, was totally grossed out! She was so appalled by the fart egg and the double yolker, they no longer buy duck eggs at all and only want chicken! I'll have to make sure not to give them any real big eggs in the future as most of my double yolkers were really large eggs (and came from young pullets).

We have usually gotten our worst weather right around this time.
 
Supposedly the Old Farmers Almanac says...our area will be hit with a blizzard the end of Jan/Feb...WORSE then the one of 78' :barnie I remember that one....wow, it was a doozy!

Definately! Momma is a blonde...green eyes. I keep telling her she gets her good looks from me! :P
