JUSTUSNAK...Summer coming to an end!?

So....Feb 28th I am hosting a baby shower for my DIL. I have never hosted one...and only been to 2! I picked out a few games...and went out today to get some of my supplies to make a diaper cake. I have to go to the dollar tree...to get more supplies. I need recieveing blankets...and wide ribbon...and well, stuff!! :)
I will get pics when I get it finished.

What a PRETTY day!! There was sun and clouds...but MAINLY...it was about 40 degrees! Everything was melting. Ahhhh, finally. Next we will have to deal with the mud. LOL The ducks were happy to have a puddle to play in.
Hubby and I went into town to the Dollar Tree. I was able to get the rest of the items I needed for the Diaper cake. It took a bit to get it all together, but im done...whatcha think?

I have never made one before....only seen pictures on the internet...so its not perfect...but I think it will work. :)
I was also able to pick up a few items for gifts for the games. Next Friday, I will go order the cake, or cupcakes. Havent decided yet which way I will go. I could use a few ideas...for "miniature" snack foods.

Love the diaper cake!

I'm trying to remember what kind of things my mom did for my baby shower...but it's been awhile....

I know for food, we put out mini-sandwiches that we made and cut ourselves, cupcakes with little pacifiers and baby bracelets on them (we baked and decorated the cupcakes ourselves), and we put out veggie trays.
 
QA....I for got..I am putting out a veggie tray..baby carrots, mini sweet pickles...and everything cut small. Good idea on the sandwiches.
 
You could also make a bowl of homemade chicken or ham salad and serve with different crackers. Lots faster and easier than making little sandwiches.
 
Those are so fun to make. I have only done it twice and both times were a hit. I have also seen diaper wreaths. Those are really cute too.

The main advantage of the wreath over the cake is it uses a LOT fewer diapers.

Great way to save time, or, if money is tight, still give a nice gift.
 
I saw the photo the other day, and to be honest I wish I could post a pic of my face at that time. I couldn't get my head around what a diaper cake was. :lol:

So now I understand the reason/concept. I am thick sometimes....:rolleyes:
