Thanks QA. I DO understand with these economic times, its hard to find anyone who can donate time, gas, or transport. I made a small animal carrier for the back of my pickup with a couple of cattle panels. I cut them to fit the truck bed with a section on the top and the back section made to swing open. Mine are fastened together with "quick links" like you use on chain. It is like a wire box with the bottom open to the truck bed.
After I got the box made and in the truck bed I strapped it down TIGHT with ratchet straps made for hauling things like motorcycles. Then I zip tied (and strapped) a tarp tight over the whole thing for the ride home.
I put an old rubber mat we had in the bottom of the truck bed for added slip resistance. Only took part of an afternoon to build with a pair of bolt cutters and it folds flat to store. Cheap too. I use it to haul sheep and my dogs sometimes.
