JUSTUSNAK...Summer coming to an end!?

Oh, I know....most everyone says...."welcome Monday? Are you NUTS??" However, I for one...WELCOME IT!! Last Friday I took my meds in for refills. Well, seems they were "early" even tho I was out...( dont know how I did that) either way, I had to waite untill today to get my meds. See, I have COPD..and NOT haveing my meds..well...UGH!! So I went early this morning to get my meds...they are slowly getting back into my system, and I am starting to feel MUCH better. Ahhhhh, breathing is GOOD! LOL
So, with a gasp and a cough, I headed to the barn. We are to get thunderstorms tonight, and I needed to get it buttoned up before the storm. So, I drag my bum out there and get to work. This stupid Ram of mine...well..lets just say, he has maybe one more chance. He has suscessfully gone THROUGH 2 fences! Got the barn done..and fixed the fences. Then I headed to the banty shanty. Time to get the windows weatherized. So...I have my own design on the window covers. On the outside of the coop, there is a wood shutter, that I have tied to a rope from the inside. I can pull the rope, and open the shutter....and hook it on a nail inside.

Being I am ...well.. lazy, I was already outside with the plastic, and forgot to hook the rope. No biggie...I will prop it with this here stick. :/ ( Note to self, lazy gets ya hurt) Yeah, you guessed it...WHAM! Just about knocked my brains out. I stumbled backwards and heard a terrible SCREEEECH!!! O M G ! I squished a kitten! Thankfully its ok, but terribly upset at me. I tried to pick it up, and comfort it....OH HECK NO. That kitten hissed at me and ran to the thicket. :( Poor kitty. At least it has already forgiven me....with the help of a little leftover tenderloin. :D
So, tomorrow I just need to get the larger coop done, check all the water heaters...add more bedding...and drop the curtains over the windows.

With 4 poultry houses...I have to name them so Hubby knows what I am talking about...so, we have...
1) Banty Shanty...yup, Banty cochins, frizzles, and brooders.
2) Turkey hut...self explanitory.;)
3) Duck hut...again, the name calls it.
4) The BIG coop. This one has 4 "stalls" and runs....it is 12 x 30, has a 4ft walkway for me, and a storage area ( 4x8 ) for feed cans and...well..everything else.
Then, we have the barn, and the goat shed...and 2 small "shelters" The north shelter and the south shelter, and of course...hubbys Shop and lean-to. I am running out of names....guess we better stop building! LOL

Sorry you got a bonk o the head. :hugs

I am soliciting for advice.

Turkey herding. Do you let your birds free range? Do they go in their house at night? If not how do you get them there.

I have been using Farm Fresh's broom tactic. They turkeys are not getting it. Granted it has only been 3 days. I have them in a 1/2 acre area. It was very dark tonight. I had to cross the orchard 3 times to carry them in. With blackberry brambles and all. Uggggg!!!

I am about ready to confine them again. Help???
