JUSTUSNAK...Summer coming to an end!?

We used one of those turtle sandboxes for a dog pool for years and years. They are much more solid than those kiddie pools and you often see them on Freecycle or Craigslist for little of nothing. ;)

One question ... how long did that water stay clean?

:lau :gig :lau

My sis used to be constantly cleaning her duck pool so they wouldn't "have to play in that dirty water". It is a losing battle.
I trash picked one of them.

So, today was a looooong day. First I had to go to PT. UGH! I am always so sore when I get home from there. So after checking on all the animals....I came inside to rest a bit. 7 pm, milking time...I headed out to the barn. Now, all the animals greet me at the fence for feeding time....but Juliette, the PB pig, didn't.:/ My first thought is, she had succumbed to the heat. :( I was scared to go look, but just as I get to her gate, she comes out of her crate. Whew! So I said to myself....she was just trying to stay in the shade....I go on and get feed for everyone...and when I get to Juliette....this is what I saw.

5 little piggies!!! :love She was in the pasture..with a crate for shelter, and being that we have coyotes...I knew I had to move her and the babies to the barn. This meant I had to move Tulip OUT of the barn. Ummmm, yeah....she didn't want to go. She weighs about 150...and has an attitude! It took me a while to get her moved...her screaming and growling, me sweating and cussing..LOL
Finally, Juliette was up and moving around, looking for food. I saw this as the perfect time to move her. I grabbed her feed, and slowly walked backwards to the barn, leading her in. After I got her moved, I went back for the little ones....

pigs in a bucket! :gig This is a small bucket, but they all fit.
Now they are settled in the barn...comfy, and safe...I hope.

I sat out there with her until almost 1 am, thinking she might have more...but I think she is done. Now I need to get my shower...and get some sleep. 6 am comes fast!!

:woot How is it that pigs start out so stinkin' cute! :love

oh, I know....At least with butcher hogs, they grow into something you want to eat. These are PB pigs....virtually useless. They are rescues, she came to me preggers. UGH! Now there are MORE to find homes for! ( but they are cute) ;)

Pb pigs are quite edible, but they are more a lard hog than a meat hog.

I remember getting a spanking when I was little for sneaking a piglet and playing with it for hours. It was so cute. Like a lil pink hairless puppy. With a rubbery nose.

Then my dad had the "talk" about how my lil friend was gonna be bacon for us one day. I hated my dad for months for that. Then I ate breakfast and got over it. LOL.
